DC Hooch is a minor antagonist on Coronation Street, appearing as a supporting antagonist in 2008 and 2009. He was a rival to Becky McDonald.

He was played by Dominic Carter.

Biography[]

DC Hooch surfaced in October 2008 when he led an investigation against Becky Granger after she went on a rampage after being dumped by Jason Grimshaw. The pair had a previous encounter when Hooch tried to force Becky into doing something she didn't want to and she gave him a black eye. Becky's lover Steve McDonald gave her a false alibi claiming she spent that night with him. Steve gave evidence in the court which let Becky off the hook.

Hooch returned later the following year in another attempt to get Becky sent down. He enlisted her addict ex-boyfriend Slug to plant drugs on Steve's property the Rovers Return Inn, which resulted in the place being raided during Becky and Steve's wedding reception. Becky was arrested and charged with possessing drugs and faced a likely sentence. Steve tried to bribe Hooch, although Hooch made off with the money and still planned to have Becky sent down. Steve, Becky and their friend Lloyd Mullaney got their hands on Slug and convinced him to turn against Hooch. Slug threatened to reveal to the authorities about Hooch's involvement unless he drops the charges. Although Hooch is dismissive at first, he becomes spooked and drops the case against Becky; thereafter Hooch is never heard from again.
