DD is one of the main antagonist of the game Yakuza: Dead Souls.
He is voiced by Shinnosuke Ikehata, as well as being modelled after him.
Appearance[]
DD has the general appearance of a middle-aged man with shoulder-length light brown hair. He wears a three-piece suit with white pants, a red undershirt, a black cravat and leather gloves
Personality[]
DD is a nihilist who views that act of living as causing pain for most people and thinks it would be better if everyone were to die. Despite this, DD causes a large amount of suffering for others including kidnapping Haruka, helping Nikaido get his revenge by killing Kiryu and even murdering Nikaido.
Biography[]
Most of DD's past is unknown. What is known is that they are a Japanese-American scientist who specialised in arms dealing. Eventually, he discovers a new strain of bacteria in Africa and weaponised it into the Thanatos virus which turns humans into zombies that exist in a permanent state of bliss and wish to pass the disease onto others.
DD would come to Kamurocho and team up with Testuo Nikaido, a member of the Omi Alliance, who offered to fund the further development of Thanatos so he could have his revenge against the Tojo Clan. Eventually, DD would get confronted by Hiroshi Hayashi who was wondering why Nikaido was spending so much time and money on DD's plans. Nikaido and DD would tranquilise Hayashi and infect him with Thanatos, turning him into an enforcer who would start the spread of Thanatos around Kamurocho by wiping out smaller Tojo Clan families.
After a while, DD would help Nikaido kidnap Haruka in order to lure Kazuma Kiryu to Kamurocho so he could be killed. DD would watch as Nikaido tried to have two Prototypes kill Kiryu, Ryuji and Haruka until they were defeated. After Nikaido's plans are foiled, DD infects Nikaido with the latest batch of Thanatos before shooting him in the head to start his transformation. As this was happening, DD would explain that Thanatos' infection causes a mass of endorphins to be created in the infected person's body, making them feel happy and compelling them to share the disease with everyone around them.
DD watches as Kiryu and Ryuji battle against the transformed Nikaido as he mutates into a giant. After it is killed, DD tries to make his escape via helicopter after explaining his nihilistic worldviews to Kiryu and Ryuji.
When DD climbs onto the helicopter's ladder, he notices that the ladder reaches all the way down to the zombies on street level and that the helicopter isn't flying away. Soon, DD sees that Shun Akiyama is flying the helicopter who then proceeds to leap out of the helicopter to where Kiryu and Ryuji are with the three watching as DD dies when he falls onto a horde of zombies before the helicopter falls on them, making a large explosion that wipes them all out.
