I had a Charmander, but that puny thing was so weak, it couldn't even beat the weakest opponents! So I left it on some rock in the woods. That thing is so stupid! No matter what I do to it, it keeps on following me. I finally got rid of it by promising I'd come back for it. It fell for it! It's probably still out there waiting for me! (laughs)
~ Damien explaining that he abandoned Charmander by promising that he'd come back for it, which he has no intention of doing.

Damian (in Japanese: ダイスケ, Daisuke) is a minor villain in the original Pokémon anime.

History

He owned a Charmander but he thought that it was too weak, so he abandoned him and left him on a rock, lying that he would eventually return for him. Brock confronts Damian and demanded him to reclaim Charmander because he might die in the rain. Damien callously refused and attempted to battle Ash until Nurse Joy broke up the fight, saying that using Pokémon to settle arguments is wrong. Angrily, Damian and his crew left.

After Charmander defeated Team Rocket, Damian returned to take Charmander back, apparently impressed by his power, and said that he didn't have to go through all the trouble raising Charmander himself, much to the gang's disgust. Damian ordered Charmander to return, but Charmander refused and wanted to join Ash and Co., and smacked the Pokeball back at Damian. Enraged, Damian attempted to attack the group with his other Pokémon, but Charmander and Pikachu defeated him with a combination of fire and electricity. Then Damian, all burnt up, ran away in fear, never to be seen again.
