Dammar is the main antagonist of the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Displaced".
He was portrayed by Kenneth Tigar, who also played Heinz Richter in Hunters.
Biography[]
Dammar was a member of the Kyrian race who masterminded an attempt to take over Voyager. He was the first of his race to be transported to Voyager, replacing Kes, who was transported to a habitat inside the Kyrians' prison. He played the role of a confused innocent, aided by the fact that Voyager was too bright and cold for him, claiming he disappeared from a street in the colony of Kyria 3 and had no idea how he got there. Captain Janeway and her crew gave him the benefit of the doubt and asked him to identify his colony on star charts but he claimed not to recognise anything. He continued to keep up the act as more and more Kyrians were transported to Voyager, with crew being sent to the prison habitat in exchange.
The Kyrians were kept in Voyager's cargo bay but, once they had removed the majority of the crew and outnumbered those that remained, Dammar led a breakout to take control of the ship. Dammar took command of Voyager's bridge but the last two crewmembers, Commander Chakotay and Ensign Gennaro, managed to sabotage the ship before they were transported, leaving Dammar marooned in deep space until repairs could be completed.
As he tried to return to the Kyrian habitat aboard Voyager, Dammar received reports from Taleen, the Kyrian in charge of the habitat, that Voyager's crew had broken out of their habitat and were resisting the personnel there. Dammar eventually managed to get within range but he and his deputy Rislan were immediately transported to a cold environment and confronted there by Janeway. She told them that, if they surrendered control of Voyager, they and the other Kyrians would be left in a warm environment until Voyager had returned all the other prisoners home and disabled their equipment. After initially hesitating, Dammar agreed to her terms when it looked like she was going to abandon him in the inhospitable environment.
