At the beach - Where the hoes at?

Cocky want boing boing!

~ Dan Hentschel's most famous quote.
MY STUDENTS are all MORONS!!!
~ Dan's second most famous quote.
I’m glad you guys liked 'cocky want boing boing' cause it got me fired
~ Dan on his newfound fame that he garnered from "Cocky want boing boing".

Daniel Hentschel is the titular protagonist of the YouTube channel of the same name. He is an unstable internet comedian with a wide array of zany alter egos.

Dan's YouTube vlogs take place over the course of many of Dan's misadventures, which range from navigating his personal relationships and working to go viral, to plunging into madness over minor issues or getting threatened with legal action over his digital footprint. The gimmick of Dan's videos is that it's entirely unclear which of his stories and exploits are real, if any.

He is portrayed by himself.

Biography[]

Gaslighting therapist arc[]

Before Dan went viral due to Cocky want boing boing, Dan would post relationship tips on TikTok, which often consisted of Dan advising the viewer to participate in manipulation, gaslighting and psychological warfare to get their way. This resulted in Dan getting banned from TikTok.

Cocky want boing boing arc[]

On 11th April, 2024, Dan posted his iconic tweet, "At the beach - Where the hoes at? Cocky want boing boing!". This resulted in Dan getting so famous that he became an internet meme and allegedly getting fired from his job at Target.

Augustus Gloop arc[]

Dan had a bitter rivalry against his disabled nephew, Aiden Hentschel, who Dan would refer to as Augustus Gloop (on account of his appearance after becoming paralysed from the neck down in a car accident, as well as the fact that Dan wanted to protect his identity). After getting paralysed, Augustus stole Dan's gun and attempted to shoot up his school, resulting in Dan claiming that his nephew deserves to die.

Joker arc[]

Dan began to paint his face like the DC character The Joker, and it began to consume his life, causing his wife to divorce him, and eventually the identity of the Joker started to manifest in a sort of Dissociative Identity Disorder. Dan also began to paint his face like the Joker with different colours, posing questions such as "What if the Joker was pink and yellow", and also doing a sermon as the Joker, scaring the people at his church. Eventually Dan was implied to have been threatened with legal action by Warner Bros. and DC Comics, resulting in Dan donning his pink and yellow Joker paint as opposed to his regular clown paint and referring to himself as the Chuckler. In spite of this, Dan still occasionally refers to himself as the Joker and dons his old getup.

Dan Fucking Dies arc[]

One day, Dan died due to aphylactic shock after he ate a food he was allergic to and couldn't find his EpiPen in time, resulting in him going into a coma. This forced his family to make the decision to pull the plug on his life support instead of letting him live as a vegetable. This resulted in Dan's friends archiving some of his old content, and even an AI taking his place at one point. Dan later inexplicably came back to life.

Lex Luthor arc[]

Dan accused DC Comics of stealing his likeness when he saw how Lex Luthor looked in the upcoming Superman movie.

The School Shooting arc[]

One day, Dan drove to his old high-school in Maryland after-hours and recorded a remorseful retrospective on a football game that took place there while he was still attending school in 2013. Dan states that he intended to stage a mass shooting at the game, and claims that he bought a rifle to the game, but never took it out of his car. The video ended with Dan stating that he wished he went through with it. When this video was seen by the people who run the school, a Facebook post from the Bel Air Police Department was made, and Dan was threatened with legal action, causing him to disappear for a while. As of writing, the outcome of the situation has not been revealed, but one thing is certain: Cocky went boing-boing too close to the sun.

Son Loaf arc[]

Dan began placing a baby doll's decapitated head atop numerous foods and calling them "Son [Food]" (i.e., "Son Loaf", "Son Radish", "Melon Son", etc.), believing that Son Loaf and Co. could be the next "Hawk Tuah". When Son Loaf didn't go viral the way he intended though, Dan eventually plunged into madness and began to think Son Loaf was talking to him, and also began holding Son Loaf hostage and threatening to murder him if he didn't go viral. Dan later claimed that despite their on-screen relationship, he and Son Loaf get along well.

Green Goober Arc[]

Dan was on the verge of suicide when he got a vision of an eldritch entity who told him to push through and keep living. Because of this, he donned green face paint and a Teletubbies costume in an attempt to recreate the entity's appearance and became "The Green Goober", spreading joy everywhere he went while experiencing homelessness.

Pierre L'Fauex Arc[]

Dan is working in collaboration with a closeted homosexual Frenchman named Pierre L'Fauex to make a documentary about the former. During this, Dan has a sexual encounter with Pierre, after which he makes a video where he discusses sexuality and whether or not having gay sex makes someone gay. In this video, he casually outs Pierre, who according to Dan, is a closet homosexual. This greatly angers Pierre's father, a French mafia boss named Monsieur L'Fauex, who begins to pursue Dan with murderous intent (whether this is out of homophobia tinged with overprotectiveness towards his son, anger towards Dan for supposedly spreading lies about his son, or rudely outing his son without his permission is unspecified). This results in Dan's roommate getting his throat slit by Monsieur L'Fauex, who mistakes him for Dan. Monsieur eventually recruits Dan to run errands for him to make up for what he's done, which results in Dan doing drug-trips and even killing a drug-dealer, all while wearing his iconic Green Goober costume.
