~ Dandy after encountering his Twisted form. |
Dandicus Dancifer, better known as Dandy, is the titular overarching antagonist of the 2024 Roblox multiplayer survival-horror game Dandy's World, developed by Blush Crunch Studios.
He was the main character of his own television show back in the day, but the show was canned and the facility hosting it shut down. Dandy runs an operation to gather as much Ichor from the facility as possible (whether it caused it was simply after is unknown), likely being the cause of the Twisteds' creation. While he normally supports his fellow Toons by providing items, licenses, trinkets, and skins to buy, ignoring him for too long in a round will cause him to grow upset, becoming a Twisted and hunting down everyone on the floor.
Appearance[]
Dandy is an anthropomorphic flower with a white center and six petals, each one a different color of the rainbow clockwise. His body is off-white and his limbs are a pale green. His eyes are wide, he tends to have a wide toothy grin, and he has permanent green blush stickers.
Twisted Dandy turns the flower into a hulking monstrosity on all fours, the biggest of all twisteds. Aside from his head and forearms, his entire body is covered head to toe in Ichor, with unguligrade. His hands now have sharp claws, with three on each hand, with each claw rainbow-colored. His eyes are now red with a shadow between them, his teeth are sharpened while his mouth is stuck in a perpetual smile, and his petals are notably sharper than his regular form. Tapes and film reel wrap around his torso and arms.
Personality[]
Dandy was initially meant to be a friendly mascot for his own show, having a wide friend group and a few close friends. Whether or not he really felt something for them in the past is unclear, but in the present day, Dandy seems uncomfortable with the main cast, the only exception being Pebble, his pet rock dog, and potentially Astro, who is implied to be the only one who he talks to as of now. Dandy seems to get along fine with the rest of the Toons, at least compared to the main ones, but this does not prevent him from going after them when sufficiently angered.
Nowadays, Dandy's main trait is his greed. Running a shop for the others, Dandy is eager for his friends to buy something and earn him some sweet, sweet tapes. Ignoring him for long enough causes Dandy to break his façade, becoming a Twisted and potentially attacking on any following floors after becoming enraged. Should players survive an encounter with Twisted Dandy and reach his shop again, Dandy not-so-subtly threatens the players to buy something, or else he'll start attacking again. Currently, the contents of what are on the tapes are unclear, so any justification as to what he wants them for is left to interpretation as of now.
Judging by how most Twisteds have something to do with a Toon's mental state, it can be inferred that Dandy has a far greater control over his emotions than the rest of his peers, seemingly being the only known Toon who can exit his Twisted form willingly. That being said, the fact that Dandy can become Twisted at all shows that he isn't infallible, still able to suffer from the same shortcomings that the rest of his kind can face, and his reasoning of turning Twisted (being ignored during a run) seems much more minor compared to other Toons', some of which having years of repeated neglect of their mental state break them. Whether or not this is emblematic of a larger issue Dandy possesses is unknown.
Dandy does seem to be genuinely insecure if the Toons ignore him for too long, judging by some of his comments when no one buys from him. Dandy also seems incredibly fond of the past, with Connie's interaction with Astro stating that old episodes of the show are all that Dandy talks about.
Biography[]
Dandy was the main character of the fictitious Dandy's World show, with information about the cartoon itself being scarce for the time being. Some time after the construction of the Gardenview Center, seemingly between the years of 1984 and 1988, a living version of Dandy was created, given the designation of L-001, and was assigned to Devan Reed, one of the Toon Handlers working at the building presumably to support their Toon. As the Toons were created, they grew attached to each other, with Dandy and another Toon named Astro, designated as M-002, becoming close friends. The show itself was very successful, with multiple seasons and a good amount of merchandise being made.
On the 29th of June, 2002, the Gardenview Center was shut down due to safety regulations and a "malfunction" incident, likely resulting in the creation of the Twisteds. While details of the event are unclear, it's implied that Dandy was the very first Toon to become Twisted, snapping due to unknown conditions. What exactly happened is unclear, but it's apparent that all human personnel were evacuated and left the building, with what happened to the Toons being left unknown. Whether or not they were left in the building or if they were able to leave is unclear, but by the present day, the Toons have made a base at the abandoned facility to nab as much Ichor as possible.
Currently, Dandy now runs the Ichor extraction operation, serving as one of the few shopkeepers found in the remains of the Gardenview Center. Starting on the first floor, every other floor completed will have Dandy follow the players down and set up shop, selling items in exchange for tapes found across the various floors. While purchasing items will cause him to leave without any issue, if no players purchase any items during an intermission, Dandy will become notably upset within his next encounter.
Not buying anything for three encounters in a row will result in Dandy becoming angry with the player, resulting in there being a chance of Dandy turning into a Twisted on each subsequent floor until he's encountered or if players purchase something. Twisted Dandy is far larger than the rest of the enemies, has one of the highest attention spans of the cast, instantly rushes to any machine once it's completed, and will instantly kill any player who runs into him. Surviving a floor with Twisted Dandy will cause him to revert to his regular form the next time his shop is seen, where the process can repeat itself after another three encounters are ignored.

Trivia[]
- It's implied that Astro, one of the main Toons, knows that Dandy is able to become a Twisted. Astro's dialogue with Pebble expresses his concern for the flower, Astro can only be unlocked if the player has research on Twisted Dandy, and Astro is the only Toon that causes Dandy to stay silent when purchased.
- Additionally, Astro is implied to be the only main character that Dandy still talks to. Teagans's dialogue with Astro confirms that he and Dandy still have contact with one another, while one conversation between Sprout and Vee states that, with a sole exception implied to be Astro, Dandy has been avoiding the other Toons for unknown reasons.
- Dandy is the only Twisted to have the ranking of "lethal", thanks to his ability to kill players in one hit.
- Dandy is the only known Toon to not be playable to the public (instead limited to the developers or exploits) outside the game's roleplay mode. That being said, data for him does exist in the game's code, revealing him to have completely maxed out stats and infinite health, likely him being used for testing.
- Fully researching Twisted Dandy grants access to the Dandy Plush Trinket. Equipping it grants a 50% discount on all items from Dandy's shop.
- Dandy's full name of "Dandicus Dancifer" is only seen as one of the potential tips found on the loading screen once players join a round. The first part is mentioned by Teagan in her interaction with Pebble, but the latter is currently found nowhere else in the game.
- Dandy is heavily associated with Claude Debussy's Clair de Lune, as it plays in his shop and emits from his Twisted form while active. Allegedly, Qwelver stated during a live stream that Clair de Lune is Dandy's favorite song.
- Dandy's Twisted form had at least two prototypes prior to the game's initial launch.
- His first design was simply slender, his eyes turned pitch black as Ichor leaks upwards from them. Dandy would gain two additional arms from this early design.
- His second design has his chest split open to reveal a massive amount of Ichor spilling from body, drastically increasing his height.
- Allegedly, Qwelver, the main developer of the game, has stated that Dandy isn't completely evil, but rather morally gray. Due to the game being in active development, the meaning of this statement is left unknown for the time being.
