Danica Hendry is the main antagonist of the 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 3 episode "Child Care".
She is a deranged young woman who kidnaps a young girl named Katie Conrad who she used to be a nanny for.
She was portrayed by Megan Easton.
Biography[]
Past[]
At some point, Danica became a nanny for the Conrad family, looking after their daughter Katie. Danica developed a session with Katie and nicknamed her “Katie Cat”. She eventually quit and left Texas so she could be with family during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Two months before the events of the episode, she secretly moved back to Texas and rented an apartment. She hacked the nanny cam in Katie's room, posing as her imaginary friend Mr. Whispers. She slowly groomed the oblivious child to follow her commands. Katie often told her parents about Mr. Whispers, but they believed he was simply an imaginary friend.
Child Care[]
Danica breaks into the Conrad House, where she plants lighters fluids and matches in Katie's room. Through the nanny cam, Danica instructs Katie to set the house on fire. This was done for her to kill the Conrad parents and raise Katie as her own daughter. Katie then runs out of the house and is picked up by Danica in her red jeep. The 126 respond to the fire and rescue Katie's parents, Troy and Annie. Katie is initially believed to be dead until the next day when the arson investigator can't find her remains.
APD officer Carlos Reyes looks into the case and discovers that someone masqueraded as an imaginary friend to abduct Katie. The parents are shown the footage and are horrified by this revelation. Further investigation by Carlos causes him to identify Danica since she was the only person who called Katie by the same nickname as Katie Kat. An Amber Alert is put out later in the evening when Carlos realizes that Danica was there at the time of the fire.
APD search Danica's apartment but there's no sign of Danica nor Katie. The pair are out getting ice cream, and Danica assures Kaiden that she will be her mother now. Unfortunately, for her, the Amber Alert reaches her, and she decides to flee the city with Katie in tow.
Later when AFD captain Owen Strand is on a date with Catherine Harper, he spots Danica's jeep driving past the restaurant. He then hijack's Catherine's car with her in it and follows her. Owen informed Catherine that the Jeep is the one from the Amber Alert, and he’s in pursuit of the kidnapper. In the jeep, Katie says that she wants her mommy, but Danica slaps her and says that she's Katie's mommy now. As Danica heads for the freeway, Owen manages to swerve in front of her, forcing her to stop. Getting out of the jeep, Danica yells at Owen for his driving and says she was with her daughter. However, he reveals he reveals that he knows she is a kidnapper. Exposed, Danica attempts to attack Owen with a knife, but he manages to subdue her while Catherine checks on Katie. The police, including Carlos, then arrive and arrest Danica.
Katie is later reunited with her parents, while Danica is presumably sent to prison or a psychiatric facility for her crimes.

- The voice effect used for Danica was the same as the one used for Amber Braeburn on 9-1-1.
- She is similar to fellow 9-1-1 villain Nancy Cook, in that they are both mentally unhinged and stooped to attempted murder to claim another family's child.
