~ Daniel Lennard confronting Darwin and Anais. |
Daniel Lennard is the main antagonist of the The Amazing World of Gumball episode "The Plan."
After Gumball, Darwin, and Anais Watterson read a note mailed to their mother, Nicole Watterson, from a cosmetic brand called "Daniel Lennard," which praises her beauty and happiness as paramount, they begin to suspect that a real man by the same name is trying to steal her away from their family. As a result, they concoct a scenario and devise a plan to thwart him, imagining a fictional version of Daniel Lennard as their enemy.
He is voiced by Mic Graves.
Appearance[]
Daniel Lennard is a tall, humanoid, globular figure with a bulbous body, and everything about him (including his body and accessories) is composed of a green, glossy, thick, slime-like substance. He has the head of a bulldog, bushy eyebrows, a wide mouth, and a black mustache with a goatee. He wears a tall, cylindrical top hat on his head, a pendant with a dollar sign around his neck, and heeled dress shoes on his feet. He has thin, spindly limbs, with arms ending in small hands and long, thin legs. He also carries a long walking cane with a skull-shaped handle.
Biography[]
Gumball, Darwin, and Anais come up with a plan to scare Daniel Lennard away from their mother by sending him an email that instructs him to meet at the park, where Darwin and Anais will dissuade him by insisting he is in danger due to the ferocity of their mother. Gumball will then emerge from a bush pretending to be her and scare him away. After arriving at the park in their imaginations, the Watterson siblings imagine what Daniel Lennard would look like and eventually arrive at what they deem the most accurately "evil" and "slimy" individual, equipped with flashy accessories, a bulldog's head, a goatee, and a body literally composed of slime.
In the trio's imagination, Darwin and Anais confront Daniel Lennard and warn him, but instead, he insists that it is they who should be warned, as he actually came for them.
He chases the two across the park and tries to catch them. Darwin attempts to launch a swing through his body, but after it cuts through him, it falls back into the incision, restores his body, and hits Darwin in the face, which Daniel sadistically laughs at. Realizing that they aren't fast enough, Darwin throws Anais, but both of them end up just slamming into a brick wall. Daniel corners them and mocks them for trying to get rid of him. Darwin questions how he knows of this, and Daniel instructs them that the next time they try to get rid of him, they should refrain from sending him an email with "Fake Email to Daniel Lennard" in its subject line. Darwin and Anais exit their imagination and look at Gumball, who eventually fixes the email in his head. The trio then imagine the scenario again with this detail accounted for.
Now oblivious, Daniel Lennard is confronted by Darwin and Anais in their imagination again, where they claim that they are all that is left of Nicole's previous family, and that Nicole is actually coming to eat him. Then, Gumball emerges from a bush, viciously pretending to be Nicole. Daniel Lennard tries to attack, and while Gumball dodges each strike, he is eventually hit by Daniel's taser before the latter runs away in fear. However, Gumball was wearing a pillow underneath, protecting him from the electricity and solidifying their plan as foolproof.
Naturally, when the trio tries to enact this in real life, they come across a billboard that reveals Daniel Lennard was just a brand of cosmetics all along.
Trivia[]
- Daniel Lennard was named after one of the series' executive producers, who is also the representative face of the cosmetic brand.
