I hate losing, especially to Jessica. Oh no! The Skeleckian hiccups are back.
~ Danny Rebus

Danny Rebus is one of the four major antagonists (alongside Francine Carruthers, Annie Scrambler and Manny Spamboni) of the 2009 revival of The Electric Company (often referred as The New Electric Company). He's a suave and sophisticated young man, with a very sensitive side. Despite most of his antics serving as little more than just harmless mischief or pranks, he still has a couple of moments where he commits various downright immoral actions and veers into "villain" territory.

He was portrayed by William Jackson Harper.

Personality[]

Danny tends to be very touchy and overly dramatic with his demeanor. His power is that he create rebus puzzles out of various sentences. For example, he spells his last name as "Re+🚌". He has a very sensitive side and is shown to be capable of holding a serious grudge if he feels like anybody his wronged him. He often accuses the Electric Company of making him look bad, sometimes for completely petty reasons. There were a number of moments he helped the Electric Company, but most of them were when it benefited him. Although, Danny was shown to be more logical than the other Pranksters and is most likely the least evil member of team. Danny also has a soft side, as he formed a bond with Hector in "Oh Danny Boy", when they teamed up for the ping-pong tournament, and he's also a genuine dog-lover as it is shown in "Pies for Puppies".

Villainous Roles[]

  • Abracadabra Cadabra Ca-Green!: He steals Calvero's magic book in a middle of a performance right after Calvero turned himself into a snake, and would send the E.C. a letter with a spell on it, distantly turning Jessica into a lizard -- although according to Danny, the spell was meant to be for Hector as petty revenge for spilling milk on his shoes. Then when the gang confronts him, he tries to turn Hector into a turtle, only failing because he didn't understand how the spell worked (the spell transforms the person who recites it), and in turn, he turned himself into a turtle
  • The Orangachoke: He steals Lottie's titular fruit that's meant to give her a unique talent during a total solar eclipse out of sheer pettiness, just because Lottie misspelled his name on his invitation to the eclipse. He only returned it because Lottie agreed to share her new talent with him when she got it.
  • Revenge of the Zeroes: He and Annie caused trouble and tried to ruin the Banana Festival Party as petty revenge for getting a 0 on the banana sculpture contest (they had a strawberry on top of their Taj Mahal model, despite the rules saying they could only use bananas in the sculpture). While Annie's the one who scrambles the orders, with Danny mainly being a willing accomplice, Danny still plays a part in the mayhem as he distracts the deliveryman for the party supplies and allows Annie to scramble the item amounts and their prices on the man's clipboard the second time around, and later gives Annie the idea to change the numbers on Hector's spare list he was using to confirm the orders for the party, so the gang would get the wrong idea. He also took great pleasure in taking part in the prank.
  • Prankster Holiday:
    • He and Manny would take advantage of most of the Electric Company being out of town for the 4th of July, and use it as an opportunity to try and launch a giant wordball balloon into the sky reading "The Electric Company doesn't like you" in an attempt to ruin the company's reputation. The plan would have worked too, if Danny hadn't accidentally revealed their plan to Marcus (the only company member still in town), leading him to gather a close friend of his and Paul the Gorilla to face their plan.
    • Even before then, he'd create a bunch of taunting rebuses and spread them across the neighborhood, when he first realized most of the company was gone.
  • Shrink, Shrank, Shrunk!: While he doesn't directly assist Manny in using the shrinkinator to shrink various additional objects to one inch, he still helps Manny by hiding him in his gym bag after Manny shrunk himself, in an attempt to hide from the company and Dax, and he escapes Danny's gym bag and hides within the Electric Diner, Danny tries to get out of searching for him

Prankster Planet[]

In a long lost online video game, Danny and the rest of the Pranksters have a lair of their own called Prankster Planet.

Wordsuckeruppernator[]

Manny's titular gadget, the Wordsuckeruppernator, is used to suck up all the words on Earth. The only way to shut it down is by pressing all 13 off buttons all over the planet.
