“ | Now, now, Edge. Best to keep a clear head - you need to play the LONG GAME here. Are you going to run away again in order to save your own skin - let me use "Momma" for target practice? Or will you try to rescue her? You'll fail, of course, and your quest to stop Cursa will be over. The whole galaxy suffers, then. Though, you'd never stop Cursa, anyhow. I - at least - can promise to be much more merciful in victory. So... What will you choose? | „ |
~ Daphne |
Daphne is one of the secondary antagonists of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope (alongside Midnite and Bedrock). She is a plant based Rabbid as well as a member of the Spark Hunters.
Personality[]
Daphne is described by Edge as being the "downright sneakiest, dirtiness, most devious Spark Hunter" she has ever known and one of the few Spark Hunters that she is the most stressed out about and has the least friendship with. She is known for faring better in her tasks than her comrades were and is considered to be exceptionally cruel and highly intelligent. Daphne is the only Spark Hunter who is the most enthusiastic when Cursa was draining the energy of the Sparks she captured, which suggests that she is also a very sadistic Rabbid who enjoys seeing others suffer and has taunted Edge, who gave her the choices between running away, using the warden Momma as target practice, or try and save her as she claims that it wouldn't change the outcome either way. The way she had three Sparks on her and never thinking about sharing each one with Midnite and Bedrock to help at least spare them of punishment suggests that she only thinks of herself rather than her own friends.
Biography[]
Daphne, Edge, Midnite, and Bedrock were created by Cursa for the purpose of seeking out the Sparks so it can crush Rosalina's will by absorbing their energy. It doesn't take too long before Edge saw the malice within her creator and tries to let the Spark Hunters know about it, but due to their loyalty to Cursa, they betray Edge which results in her leaving them behind to save the Sparks.
After Bedrock is defeated by the heroes, Daphne is seen swiping her up and taking her away from Palette Prime. As Midnite and Bedrock were anxious about facing Cursa as they don't have any Sparks on them, Daphne reveals her success by presenting the Sparks to Cursa, much to their frustrations as Cursa punishes them before absorbing the Sparks as Daphne watches in glee. She later heads to Barrendale Mesa where captures the warden, Momma, and fakes a transmission from her to lure the heroes into her workshop and after revealing herself, she imprisons the heroes in the Darkmess Dimension. Edge is enraged to see that Daphne had deceived them as the latter gives them sadistic choices and no matter what they choose, the galaxy will still suffer. However, despite her best efforts, Daphne is defeated, and Rosalina's true fate is revealed when Cursa appears. It's unknown what happened to Daphne after that, but at the end of the game, Edge implies that they are still alive and are currently seeking a new profession.
Trivia[]
- Daphne's eyes are never shown onscreen, so it is unknown what color they actually are.
