Darío & Ernesto are supporting characters of the 2020 Netflix TV series Control Z, serving as two of the four secondary antagonists (alongside Gerry Granda and Bruno) of the first season, supporting characters of the second season, and will return in some capacity in the upcoming third season.

They are an incompetent duo of teenagers who were best friends with Gerry Granda, with whom they bullied the lonely Luis and cruelly made fun of Isabela after her secret was revealed to the school.

Darío is portrayed by Iván Aragón and Ernesto is portrayed by Xabiani Ponce de León.

Biography

Before the Series

Darío & Ernesto are known to be part of the popular crowd consisting of Isabela, Pablo, Natalia, Maria, Raúl León, Rosita and their best friend Gerry Granda, also as the local bullies alongside the former, tending to bully Luis, a lonely student on a daily basis. After Gerry's Father accused him of being gay when showing a drawing Luis made of him, Darío & Ernesto were quick to team up with him and start said bullying (particularly Gerry out of shame for his sexual orientation). They also look down on outcast Sofía Herrera, when they, Gerry and their friends deem her as "crazy" due to her trying to cut her wrists in the middle of a class (because of the trauma she dealt with regarding her father's alleged death). Separately, Darío is known to have had a fling with a hot girl named Valeria and is often teased because of it by adressing her as "Darío's cousin", even noticed by Sofía herself when noticing herpes on his lips while she makes fun of Ernesto's excess of dandruff on his hair.

Season 1

Darío and Ernesto are always bullying Luis alongside Gerry, first pushing him against a locker, only for Sofía to show up and handle the entire situation. Nevertheless, aside from Sofía, Luis is unable to stand up for himself given his fearful nature. They stalk him again on the parking lot, daring him to fight back, which Luis doesn't. Then, Gerry starts ripping up one of Luis's drawings and that's when Luis snaps but simply pleads for him to stop while Darío and Ernesto hold him back, to which Gerry says Luis is proving his point: that he has to stand up for himself rather than wait for the first person to do so. Gerry then urinates on Luis's backpack before Raúl sends them away and gives Luis some money to buy himself another backpack. During a presentation hosted by the principal to teach the students how to properly use their cellphones, however, instead of the topic itself, a video regarding Isabela is shown instead, turning out to be that she is a trans woman, causing her to run out of the auditorium in tears and humiliation. Despite the comforts she receives from her friends Maria and Natalia, Darío, Ernesto and Gerry only mock her cruelly, making sexual harassments while witnessing Pablo (pretending not to know her secret) breaking up with her before they start following her pevertly as she storms off. The secrets of Gerry, Natalia, Raúl and Pablo (the three having parttooked in revealing Isabela's secret and the latter's betrayal) are also spread out, inciting a fight started by Gerry, between Pablo, Raúl, Natalia and Javier, the new student who enrolled mid-year, still making fun of Isabela, to which Darío and Ernesto laugh at, before the biology teacher sends them all to the principal's office to sort out their issues.

Later on, Gerry, Darío and Ernesto bully Luis again when he accidentally bumps into Gerry and Ernesto pushes him against a wall. Gerry starts poking fun at Luis after Gerry's secret is leaked (calls him a "fag") and criticizing him for not doing his part in standing up for himself the more he tries to encourage him into doing so, then leading to Gerry spitting on Luis's face. Fed up with this and noticing his mother complaining to the principal about bullying, Luis falsely admits to being the hacker in a weak attempt to save himself and stop Gerry, Darío and Ernesto from bullying him ever again. However, while Darío and Ernesto insist that Luis is not worth the trouble anymore because he was expelled, Gerry wishes for nothing more than beating him up as revenge, assuming this to be true. They force Pablo to drive them over to Luis's house, with Javier following suit after overhearing them, but he isn't there. They eventually find him with Sofía, who knows he lied to protect himself, thus starting a cat-mouse chase that ends with Javier arriving at the perfect timing and deliberately crashing his car, buying Luis some time to escape and then they flee the scene when a policeman, who is friends with Luis, approaches them. When the hacker arranges a public fight between Luis and Gerry (through Luis's facebook account), Darío and Ernesto are quick to attend and the principal locks Gerry up in the auditorium until everyone is sent home. However, Alex inexplicably releases him and the fight is resumed, with Luis being quickly overwhelmed. Pablo and Raúl attempt to stop Gerry, but are held back by Darío and Ernesto, also dragging Luis out of Javier's car, before Gerry catches up to him and punches him hardly enough for Luis to fall and hit the pavement, much to their shock. As a result of almost murdering his already tormented classmate, Gerry is expelled from the school, given his tainted student record. Pablo and Raúl are quick to blame them for Gerry's violent rampage, but they take Gerry's side, arguing that it was impossible for them to know the fight was going to end that way (Pablo and Raúl disagree: "Come on man, he had him hospitalized", "Oh, come on it's Gerry, of course he was going to give him a bad blow", they reply.), as well as Gerry's father who reacts indifferently and completely ignores the fact that an innocent student almost died. They later attend Raúl's party where Gerry also shows up, despite his actions, and Pablo tells him he is not welcome here. Surprised, Gerry asks if they are kidding. Darío insists that some of their friends are starting to give them the cold shoulder after Luis's accident. When asked again, they can only respond with silence, leading Gerry to almost attack them but ultimately leaving the place, disappointed that they don't trust him anymore.

During the NONA party, Isabela, who is no longer ashamed of her transgender identity and shows up with a reluctant Alex, Darío and Ernesto poke fun at both of them over their newfound pairing (calling them "buddies"/"bros"), but particularly at Isabela, who is finally able to stand up for herself and snaps back at Darío, calling out his machist and pervert attitude. Alex is also angered at Ernesto because of this. He teasingly asks Pablo how long his relationship with Isabela lasted, but is met with apathy from Pablo who leaves somewhat offended at this comment. When it is known at the party that Raúl is the hacker, all of the students turn on him and the furious Pablo starts beating him up while Darío and Ernesto try to hold him back. Raúl then leaks everyone else's secrets, causing the students to fight each other as a consequence. The season ends when they witness in horror, along with the other students, Javier's accident when he is fatally shot by mistake by Gerry who threatened Raúl after also finding out through Darío about their former friend's betrayal.

Season 2

They have smaller roles in this season, aside from still vilifying Raúl for his actions as the hacker. Ever since Luis's death, they have become less antagonistic towards everyone and are no longer affiliated with Gerry who is currently wanted by the police, but still retain some of their old traits. Two months following the previous events, an event is held at the school to honor Luis until another hacker (known as "The Avenger") starts terrorizing the students into bringing Gerry to him and avenge Luis (although they believe it is Luis and that he is still alive, a theory mostly dismissed by their friends), starting with both of them, tampering with a pizza supposedly ordered by them, drugging them to lose conciousness and burying them alive in a cemetery, but are later saved by Sofia and Javier. Raúl returns to the school like nothing happened, but is quickly met with hatred by most of the students for ruining their lives, particularly the violent Pablo and they even suspect him of being the culprit of burying them. Exiting the premises, a fight ensues when some of the students surround and assault him, with Pablo joining in again while Darío and Ernesto try to stop him, to no avail. The fight ends when Sofia deliberately makes some of the cars's alarms go off, forcing all of the students to retreat to their homes when the noise attracts Quintanilla's attention. They later engage in a pre-agreed threesome with Rosita, although Ernesto is against the idea but it's obvious that this is only because of Darío himself having a crush on her. When Pablo lets slip that Raúl and supposedly Sofia were harboring Gerry, they make harsh comments at her, to which the offended Sofia reminds them otherwise about having saved everyone's lives from the hacker, calling them out for their ungratefulness and hypocrisy, and making her best efforts meaningless, and briefly suspecting her in having buried them due to her being the first person to arrive at the scene after releasing Quintanilla who was locked up by the Avenger in a restroom and stung by bees. Despite this, they still listen to Sofia when she vainly tries to warn Rosita that the Avenger wants to target her, recognizing her boldness even when no one wants to take her seriously. Rosita ignores her and heads out for a restaurant with Darío and Ernesto, who insist on ordering their food for take out, believing that the Avenger doesn't know where they live, but Rosita refuses. They leave when Sofia tells Rosita the true reason why Darío and Ernesto planned the threesome, angered at them. Rosita then witnesses Sofia falling to the ground after popping one of her pills tampered by the Avenger, rushing her to the hospital. Despite making her promise not to tell anyone, she still does texting in her friends' group about Sofia "losing her mind" and being hospitalized, hoping she won't be sent back to the asylum. Darío would later hook up with Rosita, without Ernesto, until their phones notify them of the poll made about deciding Gerry's fate regarding his murderous actions against Luis, but remaining unaware that Alex herself is the Avenger.
