Oh don't worry about your wife. We gave her a nice honeymoon!
~ Dario gloating about raping and murdering Felix Leiter's wife

Dario is the secondary antagonist in the 1989 James Bond film License to Kill. He is Franz Sanchez's main right-hand man and senior personal henchman who's treated like kin by Sanchez himself.

He was portrayed by Benicio Del Toro in his first villain portraying in his cinematic career. He would go on to play Fred Fenster in The Usual Suspects, Jack Rafferty in Sin City, the title character in the 2010 remake of The Wolf Man, Lado in Savage and later DJ in Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi and The Collector in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Thor The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers Infinity War.

Biography

Dario was kicked out of Contras for his brutality (which means something) and found his way into Franz Sanchez's cartel, becoming one of his closest henchmen who is treated like kin by him. Dario is also the leader of the gang of thugs who kidnapping James Bond's newly married CIA friend Felix Leiter and also responsible of the killing of his bride, Della, (which is implied to be by rape). Dario is later present during the maiming of Leiter, when the American asks where his wife is Dario mockingly responds "Don't worry we gave her a nice honeymooooon" and laughs as Leiter is partially fed to some shark.

Later, Dario is sent to assassinate Pam Bouvier but is intervened by Bond, after a brawl in the bar Bouvier escapes with 007, Dario shoots her in the back although she had a bullet-proof vest on).

Dario's death

Dario being dragged to death into a cocaine crusher

After this, Dario is not seen until much later in the film, during the tour of Sanchez's cocaine plant. After Bond has caused a fire in the lab, Dario is instructed to kill Bond (by throwing him into the cocaine grinder). So, he stays behind as the other villains gets away, to make sure Bond falls down into a grinder device from a conveyor. However, the spy manages to grab Dario's foot and pull the psychotic villain into the grinder, where he promptly meets an agonizing death in the image of all his heinous crimes.
