“ | Every last one of you is gonna have to be in that courtroom. You're gonna have to testify. Your lives out in the open for everyone to judge, same way you all been doing to me since day one. They gonna know what kind of cop you are, and what kind of husband and father you weren't. They gonna know all about my brother's sexual habits and his collusion. And I guarantee once that comes out, everybody's gonna wonder why he's not being charged too. They're gonna think his cop father has friends in your office, Ms. Novak. And I hope you have a damn good explanation, 'cause cover-up makes for a nice headline. Never mind a no-good mother is dead and her poor baby is missing, even though the baby is better off. So yeah, I'm going to prison, but not for as long as you think. 'Cause once Theresa Randall takes that stand and has to tell the truth, that festering bitch is gonna have to claim me for the first time in her miserable life. And let's see her shake me after that. So you wanna bury me? You go right ahead, 'cause I'm taking you all down with me when you do. | „ |
~ Parker threatening to expose his family's secrets. |
Darius Parker is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes "Venom" and "Screwed". He is a murderer and rapist who concocts an intricate plan to get revenge against his dysfunctional family by exposing their secrets in court.
He was portrayed by rapper/actor Chris "Ludacris" Bridges.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Darius is the nephew of Detective Fin Tutuola of the NYPD's Special Victims Unit, and the black sheep of the family; he has been stealing, fighting, and abusing drugs and alcohol since childhood. Nevertheless, he is extremely intelligent and creative, and is a talented sculptor.
Fin's ex-wife Theresa particularly dislikes Darius, and at one point threatened to have Fin beat him up if he didn't stay away from their son Ken, the only member of the family with whom he was close. When Darius was 13, his grandmother revealed to him on her death bed that Theresa is his mother, not his aunt. Theresa's continuing rejection of him drove Darius to hate her and to become even more aggressive and violent; by adulthood, he had been arrested several times for drug crimes, assault, and theft.
One night, Darius, in a drunken rage, raped and murdered his girlfriend's wealthy employer because he believed her to be a neglectful mother to her infant son, whom he also murdered because he thought the child was better off dead.
A few years later, he confided in Ken about the murders, including where he had buried the bodies. Horrified, Ken went to the burial site to find out whether Darius was telling the truth, and got arrested for trespassing.
"Venom"[]
Following his arrest, Ken calls his father's SVU colleague. Detective Olivia Benson, who bails him out of jail. Fin soon finds out about the arrest and starts investigating the supposed murders to prove his son's innocence.
Fin and his partner, Detective John Munch, question Darius, who stuns them by confessing to the murders. Claiming to be a changed man, he tells the detectives he is willing to plead guilty in order to clear Ken's name and his own conscience. They also talk to Theresa, who admits that Darius is her son, the product of her rape when she was a teenager.
Before a deal can be made, however, Darius announces that he will not plead guilty after all, saying he wants to stand trial. He reveals that his claims of remorse were merely a ploy to get revenge against his family for the way they have treated him; with a trial, he he can expose their secrets in open court and take them all down with him.
"Screwed"[]
Months later, Darius is representing himself in court, having used his time in jail to study law. He calls Theresa to the stand, but she refuses to testify, eventually going to jail for contempt of court. Benson finally persuades her to testify by reminding her that Ken still needs her help.
When Darius cross-examines Theresa, he asks her why she had treated him so badly when he was a child, and Theresa admits that she hated him because he reminded her of the rape, and that she lied to him about his parentage because her mother wanted to cover up the stigma of an out-of-wedlock teenage pregnancy in the family. Darius then demands to know who his father is, but Theresa refuses to answer. When the judge threatens to put her back in jail for contempt, Theresa admits that her own father had raped her and gotten her pregnant. Darius refuses to acknowledge that he is the product of incest, and accuses her of lying under oath. However, Theresa's apology for her unfair treatment of him did cause him to consider. Regardless, his resentment led to him to dismissing her.
Ultimately, the jury finds Darius not guilty, and he is set free. Outside the courthouse, Fin and Ken confront him Darius for his actions on the detectives and disown Darius, who replies that he wants nothing to do with him, either. Fin warns Darius that he will eventually end up dead or in prison. Smug, Darius asked if Fin will follow him for the rest of his life but Fin announced he won't bother with him and that he'll never think of Darius again but knows Darius will always be in fear of that. Indeed, Darius was unnerved by the statement and says nothing in response, as Fin and Ken walk away while Darius only watched them in silence.
