Darkmatter is the main antagonist of the 2017 Roblox superhero game Heroes of Robloxia.
He is the dark and corrupted form of Amethysto that occurred when an unknown force of malevolent energy overtook the latter, twisting his heroic ideals into a sinister desire for domination. As Darkmatter, he seeks to plunge the world into eternal darkness and establish absolute control, driven by his arrogance and the belief in his superiority. Throughout the game's narrative, Darkmatter masterminds a series of events, employing his henchmen to collect resources to construct a powerful machine capable of amplifying his powers and reshaping the world in his own twisted image. He is the archenemy of the Heroes of Robloxia.
Darkmatter's entire body is purple and black. There are purple lines between the intersection of his arms and hands and the intersection of his legs and feet. There's smoke coming out of his head and there's some kind of ring surrounding his neck. He also has a purple half square on his chest.
Personality[]
As opposed to Amethysto, Darkmatter is quite arrogant and ruthless. He's ready to do anything to achieve his goal and doesn't care about the outcome of his actions while doing so. The only thing that matters to him is who will make his job easier and who will make it harder. Other than that, he doesn't care about anyone. The fact that he didn't even try to help his henchmens after they were arrested by the heroes is a clear proof of that.
He also has a hegemonic side, evident from his conversations, and wants everything to happen his way, including the entire world being dragged into darkness. There isn't much difference emotionally either, he always sees himself as superior to others and doesn't seem to have "weakening" feelings such as fear.
Biography[]
Taking Control of Amethysto[]
Before he became Darkmatter, Amethysto was one of the newest recruits of the Heroes of Robloxia. However, Amethysto became corrupted by some unknown darkness and became Darkmatter and through this, he aims to conquer the world with his new henchmen, Cicada, Dynamo, and Atomic Waste.
Plotting World Domination[]
He has the three villains collect various items that he'll plan to use for a device that would enlarge himself to gigantic proportions, and further his plans of world conquest.
However, all of them, Cicada, Atomic Waste and Dynamo, would end up being defeated by the heroes serially despite them having minions as well. Despite this, he manages to gain the resources they stole, Cicada's gold, Atomic Waste's uranium crystals, and Dynamo's alien technology and use it to the machine, and once he gathers them all, the machine activates.
Commencing His Plan[]
With his device completed, he ends up putting Robloxia in a ton of damage. Various minions led by his henchmen were now directly under his control as well as they seek through the ravage for survivors to stop.
The Heroes have to navigate through and defeated the enemies, and then, Darkmatter is soon confronted by the four heroes who try to reason with him, but with his anger aimed towards them about capturing his lackeys, he activates his machine and grows up to about the height of a skyscraper. He then lifts a platform for the heroes to fight him on.
Battle with the Heroes and Presumed Death[]
Throughout his battle, he lifts up blue tanks that Tessla can zap with her electricity, or cars that Kinetic could toss back. He tries to swing his right or left arms on certain occasions, which his right arm could be pushed back by Captain Roblox, and his left could be attacked by Overdrive. Once defeated, the darkness possessing Amethysto dissipates and returns the purple hero back to normal.
After Amethysto was accepted back into the team, Amethysto was seen holding a purple flame, which hints to Darkmatter's possible return as there still might be a part of him left in Amethysto. Darkmatter's empowerment machine could also be seen in the updated lobby where all the villains were held in separate cells.
Darkmatter has his own official Roblox toy in the 4th series of the Roblox toys from September 2017, featured along with the toys of his henchmen and the heroes as part of the Heroes of Robloxia Playset.
Reception[]
Heroes 2017 event, Heroes of Robloxia, and Darkmatter were all well-received by the community. Darkmatter's role as the main antagonist and the way he was treated as well as his impact on the story were widely praised, considering his influence surpassed most Roblox games of the time. Additionally, Darkmatter's boss fight was well-received for being both cinematically "stunning" and simple but not too easy, and was generally considered to be well-made.
At the same time, despite not being talked about much, Darkmatter's mysterious side (like his past with Amethysto) is still a character that many people talk about, as there are still many theories and speculations about him among fans.
Powers & Abilities[]
Normal[]
Genius-Level Intelligence: Darkmatter is apparently quite intelligent, being able to create a machine that can give him more power completely on his own and deciphering alien technology without any problems.
Master Strategist: Darkmatter uses his resources very well, and often achieves the results he expects.
Master of Trickery and Deception: Self explanatory.
Manual Dexterity: The fact that Darkmatter was able to create a machine that can turn himself into a form that is many times more powerful, all by himself and without any difficulty despite the complexity of the materials he used means that he has very good dexterity.
Darkness Manipulation: Darkmatter can create, shape and manipulate darkness and shadows, mostly using it for physical attacks. And as seen in Mission 4, his power is strong enough to cover the entire atmosphere in darkness.
Force Field Generetion: He can create force fields that are big enough to block a whole street, and they're nearly indestructible.
Possession: Darkmatter doesn't have his own physical form, but instead takes over the bodies of others and controls them, using them as his hosts without any problem.
Teleportation: In cutscenes at the end of each mission, Darkmatter is seen somehow taking the materials left behind, even though his henchmen have been captured. Therefore, it is thought that he has the ability to teleport and uses it off-screen.
Empowered Form[]
Gigantification: As his machine's most notable power, Darkmatter can grow gigantic and reach the size of a skyscraper, which gave him a great advantage in the final battle.
Psychokinesis: One of the powers his machine brought was psychokinesis. As seen in Mission 4, he could lift an entire park into the air without difficulty.
Portal Creation: With the power from his machine, he was able to create portals. He used this power to summon some criminals to distract the heroes in the final battle.
Superhuman Strength and Durability: In direct proportion to his size, Darkmatter is much stronger than a normal human and is also durable. This is proven by the fact that he lifts cars and fuel tanks with ease, and shakes only a little despite all the blows he takes.
Superhuman Endurance: Although Darkmatter did take damage by the huge blows he received during the final battle, he remained on his feet and kept fighting without losing his composure.

Trivia[]
Darkmatter has many more abilities than the other villains (excluding Dynamo, as he doesn't have a superpower) and is also the only character who actively uses them. If ignoring Cosminus' meteor summoning as it's automatic, and the other villains have defensive-oriented powers, he is also the only character who uses his powers offensively.
Darkmatter is most likely a genderless being. However, throughout the game, he is referred to as a male.
There is still debate among fans as to whether Darkmatter is some sort of corruption that played with Amethysto's mind or if it is an entity of its own that needs some sort of host, similar to the symbiotes in the Marvel Universe. While neither is fully confirmed, the easter eggs and clues found in the game contradict each other, making it harder to tell which one is true.
Amethysto's room in the Hero Tower contains a tiny head-like object with red eyes that resembles Darkmatter's head. Some fans theorize that the figure is what transformed Amethysto into Darkmatter.
Darkmatter's fate is still unclear to this day. It may be possible that Darkmatter might return for the sequel, as shown in Post Mission 4, Amethysto was emitting some purple flames from his hands, which would mean that a part of Darkmatter might remain inside of him and possibly waiting for his own return.
Despite only having three henchmen onscreen, before his battle, he says to the heroes that they managed to take out three of his henchmen, insinuating he actually has more (excluding the henchmen of his henchmen like the Bug Thugs).
