The Lord of Darkness (also known as the Demon Guardian) is the main antagonist of the 2013 platform video game Geometry Dash.
He is a demonic entity who repeatedly antagonizes the player throughout their run, as well as trying to murder them. He is bent on destroying the world of Geometry Dash and killing the player, as well as RobTop himself.
His vocal effects were provided by Sean Crisden (who was uncredited), who also played Fire Nation soldiers in The Last Airbender movie, Storm Shadow in G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout, The Ink Demon in Bendy and the Dark Revival, and Ucumu in The Casagrandes Movie.
Appearance[]
The Darkness is a (currently) unknown figure with glowing green eyes. Once the player releases him from his cage in the Basement, more of his body is shown, with visible horns on the top of his head resembling a demon.
Biography[]
After collecting over 200 diamonds, the Keymaster's challenge is unlocked. Once the player completes it, the Keymaster unlocks the basement, informing them that a prize awaits but also strictly forbidding them from touching anything. Before the player could go back up, the Darkness emerges from its cage, insisting that they help it escape. The Darkness explains that its cage can only be unlocked by collecting three keys, obtainable through completing the Chaos Gauntlet, unlocking 50 chests, and purchasing the Master Emblem. Once the player accomplishes this, they free the Darkness, who expresses gratitude and reveals that it can now proceed with its plans to destroy the world of Geometry Dash, leaving behind a prize.
The Keymaster comes back, saying that he heard some noise, but notices that the player has opened the gate, making him panic. The player then collects their prize, which consists of an icon, the purple key, and a death effect, allowing them to unlock the Demon Gauntlet.
The Tower[]
The Darkness reappears in the Tower, attempting to kill the player using various traps to hinder their progress and prevent them from reaching the top. In The Cellar, however, he warns the player that they shouldn't be there, but they reach the top of the level regardless, provoking his anger. He then taunts the player, calling them a peasant and claiming they have no power. A bomb appears, enabling the player to use it to proceed with the level and ultimately complete it.
Personality[]
Not much about the Darkness is known, other than the fact that he is incredibly power hungry, wishing to destroy the world of Geometry Dash and get rid of anyone or anything who tries getting in his way. He is also able to use false kindness to trick the player into letting them free, promising that he will give a prize in return, which he does so, but only so that he could continue on with his plans.
Trivia[]
- He might return in future updates as the game's final boss, though this is unconfirmed.
