Darkwing: RRRGGHHHH! MINERS!!, RRRRRRRGGGHHHH!!
D-16: Uh, Hi, Darkwing.
~ Darkwing expressing his hatred for miners while being angered by Orion Pax and D-16's interference in the Iacon 5000 race.
You two dolts aren’t gonna see anyone ever again! I'll make sure of that!
~ Darkwing after throwing Orion Pax and D-16 into Sub-Level 50

Darkwing is a minor antagonist in the 2024 animated film Transformers One. He is a loyal and brutish soldier who only swears allegiance to Sentinel Prime and the corrupt government alongside Airachnid. As a member of Sentinel Prime's empire, he is well-known to be a strict controller who supervises the Energon Miners.

He was voiced by Isaac C. Singleton Jr., who previously voiced Soundwave in the High Moon Studios video games, Thanos in Avengers Assemble, Sagat in Street Fighter, Incognito in Hellsing and Bo'sun in Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.

Personality[]

Darkwing is an arrogant, strict, hot-tempered, and rough Transformer who hates being overshadowed by "brainless" miners and has a tendency to hold grudges. He is also racist against Cybertronians without cogs.

He uses his position to push others around, even attempting to assault a miner for not working fast enough.

Biography[]

When he gains intel about a sudden collapse during a mining operation, Darkwing immediately assumes Elita-1 was responsible for the accident and strips and fires her from her rank as supervisor before demoting her to waste management. Orion Pax attempts to vouch for Elita by admitting that he was the cause of the accident, but Darkwing refused to care and ordered Elita to waste management. Orion stands up to Darkwing to insult him back by discreetly flipping him off mocking as is his finger can transform, angered, Darkwing attempts to punch him for this. D-16 takes notice of Darkwing's aggressive behavior and attempted to settle the tensions between them by punching Orion in the face himself instead in hopes that it would pacify Darkwing. However, Darkwing is unconvinced and punches D-16 in the face.

Darkwing soon joined with the other racers who participated in the Iacon 5000 race. He finds himself being used as a jump pad by both Orion and D-16 whom he both recognized from before and was extremely furious at the both of them, bumping into D-16 in attempt to sabotage them. Unfortunately for Darkwing, he grew increasingly concerned about the miners again that he ended up getting trapped within a magnetic ring at an obstacle area. Because of how he was humiliated at the race, Sentinel Prime manage to break him free with an idea to help him have his revenge. While Darkwing waits for his moment, Sentinel Prime seemingly praised both Orion and D-16 and promised them lavish rewards for their efforts in the race. Unknown to both of them, however, this turns out to be a trap as Darkwing has fulfilled his step to ultimately get back at them.

After Sentinel left, Darkwing arrives before the duo and banishes both Orion and D-16 into the waste management sublevel 50 as revenge for what both of them did at the race. Orion and D-16 angrily protest to this punishment, but Darkwing refuses to listen and furiously swears that he'll make sure that they never leave the sublevel. Unbeknownst to Darkwing, this act would lead to Orion and D-16 to start the beginning of Sentinel's downfall, as the pair would find a distress beacon from Alpha Trion and Elita-1 and B-127 in helping them find the Matrix.

Later on, Darkwing gained new orders from Sentinel Prime to force the miners to work triple time. When Ironhide, one of the miners, objects to this by pointing out that the miners are getting tired and need a break, Darkwing threatens him, only to be punched and trapped under the arcade game by a bigger and upgraded Orion as revenge for putting him and D-16 to sublevel 50, who proceeded to recruit the miners in stopping Sentinel.
