Benjamin Taylor, better known as Darkwing II, is a minor antagonist in the Image Comics series Invincible and its animated adaptation of the same name.

He is the successor to the original Darkwing and the protector of Midnight City. Unlike his heroic predecessor, Darkwing II is far more violent and callous in bringing justice to criminals.

He is voiced by Cleveland Berto.

History

Little is currently known about Darkwing II's past. Although it is known that he used to be called "Nightboy", the assistant to the original Darkwing. After the original Darkwing died at the hands of Omni-Man, Taylor eventually succeeded him as the new Darkwing.

Later on, Invincible confronts Darkwing II in Midnight City, who is attempting to kill a criminal. As Invincible sternly asks him to come with him, Darkwing refuses and uses his exoskeleton's new ability to travel through dimensions before attacking Invincible from behind. He explains that his new exoskeleton was developed by the original Darkwing against a superpowered beings like Invincible. Afterwards, Invincible attempted to apprehend him, but Darkwing evades and throws him into the Shadow-verse.

Darkwing explains in an echoing voice that inside the Shadow-verse, there are "hungry things" that even he himself doesn't stay there for too long and mocks Invincible that he will never leave there. Invincible then sardonically replies that he likes the old Darkwing, causing Darkwing II to protest that he is the hero and is doing it to protect the world against Omni-Man's son. However, Invincible managed to grab Darkwing before he could evade him again, demanding the vigilante to get them out of here. Darkwing desperately punches Invincible to free himself from his grip, however the superhero is unfazed by his attacks, demanding Darkwing to get him out of here.

Darkwing then concedes as they hear a monstrous voice inside the Shadow-verse, sending back to the real world before being knocked out cold by Invincible.

• Unlike the original Darkwing, Darkwing II's mask shows his pupils.
• Darkwing II is based from DC Comics' Dick Grayson, the original Robin and Nightwing, who is formerly a sidekick to Batman.
