Darth Drear is the overarching antagonist of the 2009 adult Star Wars Legends horror novel: Death Troopers and its 2010 prequel, Red Harvest. He was a Sith lord who was responsible for the creation of the virus that turns anyone into zombies which led to his own demise.
Biography[]
Darth Drear was a male Dark Lord of the Sith who served the Sith Empire around 4, 645 BBY. He founded Sith academy on the planet Odacer-Faustin snd worked his students to death as they labored in the construction of the academy. Beneath the academy's libary, Drear built up a Sith Temple there, were he learned and practiced the ways of the Sith Alchemy and searched for a pathway for immortality. He developed an elixir to fulfill his goal, effectively creating a disease that turned all of those infected into zombies, knowledge he recorded in his holocron. Before Drear could successfully implement the final stage of his project, however, he had his underlings search and capture a Jedi and use an ancient sword to cut open his chest and pull out the heart for Drear to feast to gain immortality instead of devolving into a mindless zombie. Unfortunately, the heart he consumed from the now deceased Jedi was not sufficient enough to be fully healthy for him to gain his path to immortality and survival. Because of his own failure, he eventually succumbed to the effects of the disease and-to the knowledge of later Sith at the academy-died, and his project, the zombies and his students with him.
Trivia[]
- Darth Drear's intentions and of what he did with the elixir seemed a bit similar to Horned King of how he performed the Black Cauldron's powers to resurrect his undead army but failed and was later killed by it's powers, shared something similiar to how Lord Drear performed his elixir to turned infected ones into zombies but stumbled to the power of the disease and was killed.
