Darth Venamis was a major antagonist in the novel Star Wars: Darth Plagueis of the Star Wars Legends timeline.
He was a Force-sensitive Bith who was found and raised by the Sith Lord Darth Tenebrous. Tenebrous saw his original apprentice, Darth Plagueis, as weak and spineless, and thus trained Venamis as a replacement apprentice. Venamis proved to be a lethal opponent against Plagueis due to his superior swordsmanship, but Plagueis ultimately came out on top.
Venamis' fate is a dark and disturbing one, being used as a lab rat by Plagueis in his pursuit of immortality, constantly killed and resurrected over and over again for decades before finally dying permanently.
Biography[]
Venamis, a Bith, claimed to have been discovered and chosen as a Sith apprentice by Darth Tenebrous, a Dark Lord of the Sith, without the knowledge of Tenebrous' actual apprentice, Darth Plagueis. When Plagueis learned of Venamis, he doubted the legitimacy of Venamis' training and the title of "Darth" bestowed upon him. Plagueis speculated that Venamis might be biologically related to Tenebrous.
In year 67 BBY, Venamis, used his public persona as a physician to liberate Naat Lare, a Nautolan, from the Bedlam Institution for the Criminally Demented on Bedlam. Lare had been imprisoned since 70 BBY. Following this, Venamis assigned his potential apprentice the task of reducing the population of marsh haunts near a Barabel settlement on Abraxin.

- The Force: Darth Venamis was adept at using the Force, especially the dark side of the Force. He could generate Force lightning and levitate himself.
- Levitation: Venamis was able to levitate himself. He showcased this ability when Pagueis used the Force to break the greel branch he was perching on. Venamis then suspended himself in midair and continued the duel using that ability.
- Force Lightning: Venamis was capable of using Force lightning. He showcased this power when, just as Plagueis sensed him about to do so, Venamis could also generate Force lightning. Plagueis then crossed his blades to Venamis's neck, causing him to 'yield'.
Abilities[]
- Lightsaber combat: In his confrontation with Plagueis, Darth Venamis exhibited a remarkable offensive prowess in lightsaber combat, a skillset taught to him by his master, Darth Tenebrous. According to Plagueis, Venamis was trained in Plagueis' style and also possessed Tenebrous' enjoyment of fighting. His strikes were notably effective and was overall a better swordsman than Plagueis, causing Plagueis to change his strategy.
