Daryl, known throughout the books as Crackerdile, Waffledile, Rockodile, and Radioactidile, is the main antagonist of John Patrick Green's InvestiGators children's graphic novel series, serving as the overarching antagonist of its first installment with the same name, the main antagonist of InvestiGators: Take the Plunge, InvestiGators: Off the Hook and InvestiGators: Brave and Boulder, the overarching antagonist of InvestiGators: Ants in our P.A.N.T.S. and an overarching antagonist of the remainder of the series.
He is the former Number One Agent of S.U.I.T. and partner of Brash, until he accidentally felt to a vat of radioactive saltine dough during his final mission, making Brash believe him dead. Now with the form of a living cracker under the name of Crackerdile, Daryl long-proclaimed revenge on his former partner, now partnered with Mango, as blame for leaving him dead. He has taken multiple other forms and alias throughout the books.
Personality[]
Before becoming a ruthless revenge-seeking supervillain, Daryl was once an Agent of S.U.I.T. with a partner named Brash. After being a noble partner and mentor to Brash during their time together, Daryl was going to retire. On his final mission with Brash, they exposed a dark secret regarding a cracker company run by Saul T. Byproducts and its use of toxic waste on their saltines. Inmediately after solving the case and Saul being arrested, a cat passing by caused Daryl to trip and fall into a vat of baking radioactive dough, believed dead by Brash.
Unbeknowst to him, Daryl actually survived and was fully baked and divided into various saltines placed in a shipping truck. Daryl then mixed himself back in with all the crackers and escaped from the truck, as a living, giant cracker creature. Still with his persona, Daryl called for Brash, but he wasn't there. He had no choice but to start to get used to be a living cracker and adjust to a life as it. Sometime later, Daryl found Brash on the streets with his new partner, Mango. Seeing this, jealously took over him, and became since a ruthless revenge-seeker, adapting the name of Crackerdile and vowing revenge on Brash and Mango. While still retaining the memories of Daryl, he now has a negative view on Brash and is obsessed on getting his vengeance.
Trivia[]
- He is the only villain in the series to have died.
- The explanation of his cameo appearance in Heist and Seek as a cracker used for the food in the Art Museum's gala is up to interpretation. It's possible that it's a cracker that Daryl did not combine with as Crackerdile. However, this is unknown.
- Fact in the newest Book it’s revealed that there are Crackers that didn’t merge together and made CrackerDile and that Daryl could return.
