Listen to Dasha.
~ Dasha's number one rule.
If I get you back and working well, they will send me home, to Russia. Whatever you want, I will do it for you. Get you anything. Just tell me. Trust me. Power is there for the taking, Oksana, you just have to be smart about how. Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Dasha Duzran - 301 (2)

A young Dasha claiming her first life.

Dasha was born and grew up in Russia (which was part of the Soviet Union at the time) during and remains fond of the country to this day. During her youth, she was Olympic gymnast and won bronze medals, which she is overall still proud of winning. In 1974, she committed what is believed to be her first murder. Her coach scolded her for screwing up her landing after training on the bars. Afterward, her boyfriend surprised her with flowers in the dressing room and told her she was still a winner to him. She briefly kissed him before biting his lip and then violently attacking him. She proceeded to beat him to death and poured chalk powder onto his face afterward before leaving.

This prolific kill led to her being recruited by the KGB, where she committed countless assassinations for them that garnered her a reputation as their top assassin and for being creative where many assassin recruits would study them for inspiration. At some point, she also had a son that she never told anyone about. However, she was kicked out for killing one of her own and was exiled from her country as a result. During which, she met MI6 agent Carolyn Martens, who was slightly fearful of her skills. Afterwards, she joined the Twelve and became a teacher for their assassin recruits. In 2014, she personally taught Oksana Astankova the ropes of assassination as she saw a great future for her in the field, passing on her creativity as well. At some point, she tried to kill Oksana in a bid to prove that she was not ready despite to the contrary, which prompted her student to swear to kill her for it.

Reunited With Villanelle[]

Dasha Duzran - 301 (4)

Dasha offering to get Villanelle anything to get her back into the organization.

Years later, Dasha is now seen as a gymnastics coach as well as an assassin teacher. However, she desired to be allowed to return to Russia by the Twelve and would be granted that only if she could convince Oksana (now known as Villanelle) to return to their employment since she was difficult to replace. Having watching her since Rome, Dasha tracked Villanelle to Spain and interrupted her wedding with Maria, which prompted Villanelle to attack her and ruin her day. After returning to Dasha's home in Barcelona, Dasha revealed her intentions and offered Villanelle anything if she came back. After Villanelle said she'd agree as a Keeper, Dasha is initially unconvinced of it being possible but agrees to it anyway. After finishing up one of her gymnastics classes, she informs Villanelle that the Twelve are open to the idea of promoting her but that she needs to prove her loyalty by performing an assassination. Although Villanelle was hesitant to the idea, she agrees and does so successfully, while also mimicking Dasha's chalk-faced kill with paprika.

Villanelle - 302 (3)

Dasha telling Villanelle that she must train a recruit.

As a reward for her kill, Dasha provided her with a mansion that had lots of space, good lighting and excellent running water, which made Villanelle happy. Over lunch, Dasha told Villanelle that in their job, they cannot have the things that normal people do such as relationships, which include ones with Eve Polastri. She then informs her that the Twelve was happy with her successful mission and that she was personally touched by the homage to her own work. She goes on to explain that she needs to prove herself capable of the job and will be overseeing and mentoring a new recruit named Felix Telep. She later explains that she will have to mentor him just like she did with her. Although Villanelle was unconvinced of it, Dasha tells her that to be a Keeper is to maintain responsibility and patience, neither qualities she had. Dasha however believes in her. However, the mission goes awry when Felix went against the plan and Villanelle was forced to execute both him and the target.

Attacking Niko[]

Dasha Duzran - 304 (8)

Dasha as she stabs Niko to drive a wedge between Villanelle and Eve.

A week later, she is having lunch with Villanelle with a baby she had kidnapped, noting that she has been unfocused and manic for days. After placing the baby into a nearby bin for irritating her, Dasha warns Villanelle that the Twelve accept her being sloppy and gives her another assignment: London. A few days afterwards, Dasha informs Villanelle that the Twelve want to meet with her in regards to her promotion, advising her to rest for the time being and not to travel. While swimming in a pool, She is later visited by Hélène, an agent of the Twelve, who informs her that Villanelle's relationship with Eve needs to be permanently severed if she is to remain focused. Although Dasha initially considers killing Eve, she heads to Poland disguised as an old woman to see Eve's husband Niko and steals his phone to lure her in. After tricking Niko into help her and as Eve approaches him, Dasha, while hidden, stabs him in the neck with a pitchfork in front of her and leaves a note saying "Still got it" before retreating, therefore framing Villanelle for his murder.

Several days later, Dasha is seen getting ready to bowling where she is approached by Eve who opts for a game with her. During the game, Dasha is amazed by Eve's talent at bowl despite it being her first time. Much to her frustration, Eve knew that Villanelle didn't attack Niko, who had survive the ordeal but may never be able to speak again, and she suspected that Dasha was responsible. Dasha however wasn't worried by this, admiting that she trained her and that her protege knows nothing other than killing, but Eve doesn't believe so. Dasha then said that Villanelle is getting promoted by the Twelve and will be untouchable, threatening Eve that she is playing a game she has no chance of winning before departing. She returned to her residence to find Villanelle on the floor, distraught and wounded after pulling off a murder very sloppily, saying that she now wants out. Dasha helps her stitch her wound, hearing how Hélène didn't make Villanelle a proper Keeper.

Betrayed by Villanelle[]

After the disastrous Romanian job, Hélène gave Villanelle an assignment to show her commitment after she requested to take Dasha because of her injury. In Aberdeen, Scotland, the two arrived at a hotel, where the two posed as mother and daughter. Inside the hotel's elevator, Dasha began arrogantly mocking Villanelle that she believes she's won because she's getting a promotion, but rants about how she'll be going back home to Russia because she did everything they asked her to, before proceeding to clench at her wound. Villanelle then antagonized her how Russia is now different than she remembered, now filled with vegans and they won't praise her return. Dasha confidently claimed that she's not interested in that, then revealing about her son and mocks Villanelle that she'll die with her family unlike hers, whom she killed. Villanelle then asked if her son has halitosis (basically bad breath) before they get off the elevator. At a golf resort the next day, Dasha start droning on about how she'll miss the thrill of murdering people and then Villanelle suggests that she should kill their target as a retirement present.

Dasha however declines, realizing that Villanelle has indeed lost her touch, taunting her that once she's home, the Twelve will learn that they've promoted a dud. Villanelle then hit the golf ball into a nearby woods, where they planned on luring their target towards. At the location, the two stuck to their mother-daughter facade and lured the man, who was American, to help them get the ball. Dasha then watched as she expected Villanelle to use the golf bat to kill him, only for Villanelle to hit her on the head instead before scaring off the American and leaving. As she lied unconscious, Eve arrived and approached her as she regain consciousness. After Eve demanded to know where Villanelle was, Dasha commented on Niko's mustache as if it resembled Joseph Stalin's own, therefore indirectly admitting that she was the one who attacked her husband. Enraged by this and now wanting revenge for what she had done, Eve then proceeded to coldly press her foot on her rib cage and kill her. However, as her ribs started cracking and just before Eve could finish her off, she heard distant police sirens and was forced to retreat, leaving Dasha to die.

Dasha did survive in the end and was admitted to a hospital, first seen laughing as Konstantin noticed her next him, after he had also just survived a heart attack due to his overwhelming stress. However, Dasha was bound to succumb to her injuries and as Konstantin was leaving to get away from the Twelve, he went to see Dasha who had just woken up. They both argued about how they each handled Villanelle, with Konstantin criticizing her for being too cold with her, trying to kill her and that she got what was coming to her, while she claimed that the West has made the two of them soft and lacking in amibtion. As he was about to leave her, she begged him to stay in which he did so. She wished her son was here, but Konstantin advised her to forget about him and Russia, saying that she will die in the room regardless. Dasha asked Konstantin why he didn't anything if he didn't like how she was treating Villanelle. As he walked away, she complained that he was as much to blame for what Villanelle's become as she is and then she succumbed to her injuries, which is confirmed by her heartbeat sensor.

Personality[]

Much like Villanelle, Dasha is a committed assassin who enjoys her line of work and would occasionally add flair to her kills so people would know she was responsible. However, unlike Villanelle who has a desire to have as much of a normal life as she could, Dasha never valued that and claimed that normal people are not like them, adding that they must never look for such things. This shows that Dasha had no desire to being a normal person and sees herself as somewhat beyond them based on occupation and morals. Dasha was deeply patriotic to Russia, willing to do anything to go back to her home country, even if it meant attacking Eve's estranged husband Niko and framing Villanelle for it to try and drive a wedge between them, ultimately betraying her in the end. She also had no remorse for her actions, taking pride in the fact that she killed many Americans for the Soviet Union before she killed one of her own for some reason.

Overall, Dasha is one of the primary inspirations that shaped Villanelle into who she was, making her cold, arrogant, sadistic and ruthless in many ways. After being confronted by Eve, she showed great amounts of her delusional way of thinking, believing that she molded Villanelle into an assassin that only understands killing, which is in fact not true as Eve always knew. After realizing that Villanelle no longer wanted to kill after murdering her own mother and feeling that she was going back to Russia for doing everything they told her to, Dasha showed her true persona as a deeply arrogant and selfish woman who will always gloat about her achievements and that the Twelve will have promoted a dud. This open display of self-entitlement led Villanelle to betray her and the Twelve, meaning that Dasha's treachery and manipulations were for nothing. Even when Eve confronted her again, she had a lack of empathy as she admitted her attack on Niko, prompting Eve to try and kill her for what she had done.
