Sgt. Dave Roland was the main antagonist in the Chicago PD episode "Born Into Bad News". He was portrayed by Jeremy Davidson, who also played Seth Coleman from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Background[]
Roland's father was a deputy chief. When Roland completed his training at the academy, his father had him placed in Narcotics. When he was a rookie fresh out of the academy, he met and admired Det. Hank Voight, wanting to be like him because of his cut no corners attitude. Roland would become a brutal cop and with that a lot of charges were brought up against him. Roland's father would have Roland placed in Jackson Parker before he can get stripped.
In Jackson Park Roland's unit would bust several drug dealers, raiding their stash houses and keeping most of the money for themselves. This aroused suspicion from the higher ups and realizing they might get exposed; Carter Perry reported them to his retired uncle, Ron Perry former commander of the 21st District but lied that he didn't steal to avoid going down with them.
Born Into Bad News[]
Voight and his Intelligence Unit created a sting to nail his squad using Detective Erin Lindsay in catching his team in the act. After nailing them for ripping off a cartel stash house, Roland and his men were able to escape punishment, courtesy of their union rep. They were able to convince two gang members': Drugstore and Bang-Bang to whack Carter for being a snitched, Carter survived however, unfortunately, Ron was killed. His boys attempted to kill off Lindsay, but they failed.
Voight would come into his house to arrest but Roland offered him a deal, money. However, Voight had no interest in taking the money and arrested Roland. Roland would be placed in a patrol car and as it drives away, he would look at Voight.
