You died, that's what happened. Three months after you, uh, disappeared, government shut us down. I went private right after, doing the same thing you and I did for God and country, killing names on a piece of paper. Only now... now there is a price next to it.
~ Dave York revealing his crimes.
It's a mistake to go to war with us, McCall.
~ Dave York to Robert, after the latter refuses the offer to join the mercenaries.
F-CK YOU, MAC! F-CK YOU! You couldn't save your wife! You couldn't save Susan, and you're not going to save this F-CKING KID! Is that in your playbook? Is that in your f-cking playbook?! SHOW YOURSELF!

Biography[]

History[]

David York was a CIA operative who formerly served alongside Robert McCall, the main protagonist of the series. Both were very good friends until McCall staged his own death to retire from the job. Dave was left saddened, presumably believing his friend died. Furthermore, the CIA closed the program and had Dave relieved of duties following McCall's disappearance. From there, Dave and his subordinates - all of whom were also associated with McCall at the time - became freelance mercenaries, being unable to find other jobs due to their past. However, he soon becomes entangled with his old friends after an assassination.

Present Day[]

After a strange murder occurs in Brussels, Belgium, Susan Plummer meets with York, who is a former CIA operative and her old partner. During the investigation, York leaves to grab chocolates while Susan is stalked by two thugs and attacked before she is eventually murdered.

Sometime after her funeral, the two thugs who were sent to kill Susan are blown up by a bomb in their room. McCall meets with Dave who believed he died, and he tells him that the thugs' death was meant to tie up loose ends, and that Susan's death was also linked to the murders, which he guesses is a planned assassination. Later, an assassin posing as a passenger attempts to kill McCall in his taxi, but McCall kills the man and discovers information on the man's phone.

This leads McCall to Dave's house, and decrypting the phone calls, he deduces that Dave was the one responsible for killing Susan. Dave reveals that ever since McCall faked his death, he and their subordinates were discharged from the CIA and became assassins. Outside Dave's house, McCall encounters Dave's men, and vows to kill them all before driving off with Dave's wife and daughters to avoid getting attacked. Dave and one of his men break into McCall's apartment and kidnap Miles, a friend of McCall's, and the villains drive to McCall's old seatown home, which is now being ravaged by a hurricane. McCall dispatches of the henchmen and saves Miles before dealing with Dave, who was positioned as a sniper on the top of a watchtower. Dave furiously gloats at McCall, but is taken by surprise and the two engage in a duel.

After a brutal fistfight, McCall manages to kill Dave by gouging out his eye and stabbing him in his spine (from the back of his neck) before throwing him off the tower to his death. His corpse is then washed away by the ocean.
