~ David to Javier, and his last words (determinant). |
David García is a major character in Telltale Games' The Walking Dead: A New Frontier. He's Kate protective but controlling husband, Javier's brother and one of The New Frontier's co-leaders. David at first was an ally but became more violent, hostile, and antagonistic towards the people around him.
He was voiced by Alex Hernandez, who also voiced Eli Knable in Batman: The Enemy Within, and Lincoln Clay in Mafia III.
Personality[]
David is a man who cares about his family very much but too often lets his emotions take over his common sense. This causes him to act antagonistic towards his loved ones and create trouble. He is shown to be very abusive and angry towards Kate, and this before the beginning of the epidemic as well as with Javi whom he considers a fool. This behavior can either create tension between the two brothers or Javi can try to calm his brother down and support him no matter what. Their relationship deteriorates further when David learns that Javi has grown closer to Kate, becoming much more hateful, unstable, and reckless in his actions. He is also slightly selfish as for example when Kate breaks a cup of his and hurts herself, and he worries more about the object than his wife or when he prefers to flee the walkers who have invaded Richmond rather than to try to save the community.
Biography[]
In a flashback to the start of the game, David is seen outside his house and he confronts Javier after their father's death and blames his brother for not being there. After their grandfather revives as a Walker, David takes their bitten grandmother to the hospital, followed by Javi in another vehicle. Four years after the epidemic began, David disappeared and his family survived without him.
Although, he does not appear physically yet, David is seen in a flashback where he scolds Kate for breaking her glass and he then argues with Javi and asks him to leave his house. He is then seen in Richmond and Javi and the other survivors learn that he is a leader of the New Frontier. Then, David ushers them into the community and introduces the leaders to Javi. A confrontation begins and can escalate between Javi and Max, one of the bandits who attacked Prescott and killed his niece Mariana. This causes the group to kick Javi out but David sends his right hand, Ava to give him a bag of groceries saying he has a plan. David then joins Javi and the others in a warehouse and is confronted by Clementine who says not to trust him. Then they all find out that Max, Badger, and Lonnie stole supplies from other communities. A fight then breaks out and Badger is killed by Javi, Max can be spared and Lonnie has fled.
After which, the whole group returns to Richmond to warn Joan, but it turns out that she is the one in charge of the raids and removes David from power before having him locked up with Javi. After a discussion between the two brothers, Joan goes down to the cell to pick up David saying they both need to talk about the issues.
Right after, we see David, at court, about to be hanged in front of everyone because accused of treason by Joan. Depending on the player's choices, if Javi kills Joan, David will be hanged by one of the men but is freed by Gabe and Javi. He will then go in pursuit of Clint with Ava and Gabe. If Javi accepts Clint's deal, David is released but he takes the man hostage, causing general panic. Clint manages to free himself but he is killed by David who goes in pursuit of Joan. In the chaos, the city barrier explodes, letting the Walkers into Richmond.
Then, David and the rest of the group take refuge in an apartment building and tensions rise between David and his family. After finding a way to escape, David battles Javi when he learns he and Kate are together. Javi can either fight him back or tell him he loves him but David won't stop beating him. If he doesn't stop, Gabe shoots David and the latter takes his son away from Javi and flees in a pickup truck. If Javi leaves to help Kate, David dies being bitten before being finished off by Javi before or after his resuscitation. If Javi chases David, he finds their crashed vehicle surrounded by Walkers. Along with Clementine, Javi kills the undead before pulling David and Gabe out of the pickup. Then David can go off to an unknown location or stay with the others and return to Richmond.
