Davy's pledge to the stars gifted him with strange supernatural powers, but none that could bring back his daughter. So he gathered as many resources as he could and started looking for an alchemist. Only one known as O'Malley was talented enough to even attempt brewing a rivival potion. O'Malley was given the finest laboratory ever, resources beyond imagining, and by signing a pact with Jones, O'Malley was also given eternal life. Using gold, jewels and herbs, O'Malley was eventually able to create the reviving potion. The potion could revive the dead and restore the flesh of those given eternal life by Davy Jones. Unfortunately, the potion did nothing for Davy's daughter, as she did not wake. Davy lost faith in O'Malley and had him thrown into the mines. Before he was thrown into the mines, O'Malley claimed that his potion works and was convinced that it was only missing Davy Jones' treasure.

History

Before becoming the treacherous sea devil, Davy Jones was but a poor fisherman living with his daughter on a beautiful island. In those early years, Davy had a ritual. Each night, before he would set out, his daughter would bring him a medallion that she made herself to bring her father luck. Davy would wear the medallion on his neck and sail out. Then, when he came back from the sea, he would go inside his hut, take off his hat, belt and his coat, and put the medallion back in the chest it was kept in. This was Davy Jones' ritual.

Though his daughter was content with the life they had, Davy felt that something was amiss and that she derserved more. Davy felt that his daughter should have dresses and sevants and jewels. One night, when sailing out, Davy wished upon the stars for riches and power. Davy then threw the medallion he wore away, breaking the ritual he had.

With the ritual broken, Davy gained an unusual amount of luck. At one point, Davy was able to give his daughter a new dress and originally, she was able to enjoy those gifts, a better meal, and some new clothes. However, Davy's daughter would notice something worrisome in her father's eye. Every night, Davy would pull entire nets full of fish. Soon, Davy was able to afford a second boat, and after that, an armada. The money came, but Davy's daughter could eventually no longer enjoy the nice things he brought her. More and more she longed for the simple life they led on the shore.

Davy later became known to be the most cunning of merchants. He ran his partners' businesses into the ground, claiming they only had their own greed to blame. In the pirates, Davy chose the wrong partners to betray. The pirates sought revenge, and so they gathered their ships and sailed toward David Jones and his little island in the sea. Once there, the pirates attacked and set Davy's palace on fire.

Davy's daughter who was, at the time, in her secret place on the shore, made on wish upon the stars. She proclaimed that she could no longer live this rich and lonely life and that her father must change his ways. It was then she saw the glow of the burning palace and fearing her father might be in danger, she ran as fast as she could and there she met a band of pirates loading their guns. Davy, at the time, was away from the island and when he returned, he saw the burning island and the pirates ships. Davy and his crew fought the pirates off but not before his daughter was shot. Holding his daughter in his arms, Davy made a pledge on the stars. He pledged to live long enough to bring his daughter back to life and vengeance on every pirates soul.

Afterwards, Davy had given up and abandoned his quest to revive his daughter, though he continued to exact vengence on pirates by binding them to his pacts.
