Yes. Mighty Steppenwolf, who might have sat here by the side of the great one. But undone by his self-pride.
You still owe the great one fifty thousand more worlds. He will hear your plea when you pay your debt. [...] For Darkseid.

~ DeSaad to Darkseid about Steppenwolf's failure.
DeSaad is a major antagonist in the DC Extended Universe, serving as the secondary antagonist of the 2021 film Zack Snyder's Justice League. He is the chief scientist and specialized torturer of Apokolips who serves as one of Darkseid's most loyal followers and advisors, acting as his right-hand man and majordomo.
He is also the leader of the Apokoliptian Priests, having taken part in the war between Apokolips and Earth's forces. Since then, he has assisted Darkseid's uncle and former general, Steppenwolf, guiding him on finding the Mother Boxes.
He was portrayed by Peter Guinness, who also voiced Childeric in the Doctor Who Big Finish audio drama "The Holy Terror".
DeSaad appears to be a thin alien humanoid with eight, long fingers, as well as four, short fingers and twelve sharp, black nails. He also appears to have two strange appendices as well. He is dressed in a metallic cloak with a black hood and a sharp, bladed collar around his shoulder. His cloak also appears to have long, metal drapes from behind that reach to the floor. His hood seems to have silver bits of metal decorations within them as well.
Personality
Like many of Darkseid's followers, DeSaad is loyal to his master and follows every command given to him. In turn, he enforces every command to his subordinates in Darkseid's name. He appears to be wise and somewhat all-knowing, having predicted that Steppenwolf would ultimately fail in his mission, despite his guidance to him. He has no tolerance for those that go against his master as he criticized Steppenwolf for his betrayal, referring him as being full of "self-pride". Because of this, he has very little trust when Steppenwolf exchanges news in regards to his conquest, as he did not believe him when he revealed the location to the Anti Life Equation.
At the same time, however, he appears to take delight in his authority over Steppenwolf, having to remind him of his failures and defiance. He even appears to be amused upon seeing him being slain by the Justice League and having his head crushed under Darkseid's foot.
