Wade Tyler Winston Wilson Sr. better known as Deadpool, is one of the main protagonists of the Marvel Universe, specifically serving as a major character in the X-Men franchise and the titular main protagonist of the franchise of the same name.

He is a mutant mercenary with an insatiable bloodlust and an ability to break the fourth wall, usually aware of whatever medium he is in. However, because of his moral code, he (generally) does as much good things as he does bad. He is the arch-rival of Thanos and his archenemies both Madcap and T-Ray.

Biography

There is no escaping the fact that for all of his banter, popularity, and personality, Deadpool is at heart a merciless assassin and psychopath: he has killed many people who deserved it but has also been quite happy to do away with innocent people for the right price. He is sometimes even willing to kill people he worked with in the past for a quick buck.

Deadpool has always inhabited a crazy world of his own and as such really doesn't fit well with our ideals of "good" and "evil" - he can be a hero one moment and a villain the next. With this insane mind, he often breaks the 4th wall in many works he appears in, and people don't understand what he means as he is doing so.

This often results in both villains and heroes disliking him because of his unpredictable nature and annoyance at what they perceive as annoying antics. Even Spider-Man (who is ironically just as infamous for his jokes) could not stand his talking at first.

A major turning point in Deadpool's life was the discovery of the existence of his daughter, Eleanor, with whom he initially had a complicated, even toxic, relationship, but ended up really becoming attached to her and vice versa. Eleanor is one of the few people capable of seeing that Deadpool is not just a deranged murderer.

Hulk Vs Wolverine

Deadpool was part of the Weapon X crew and an antagonist in this animated special - he worked alongside famous Wolverine foes Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, and Omega Red. However, he showed himself as a trickster and psychopath just as he has always done in the past and became a more neutral force as the story progressed. On the hand, he does mention doing things his mainstream counterpart wouldn't even thinking of doing like "killing babies", though it's actually quite faithful to his earliest appearances, making this the closest incarnation to how Deadpool was originally written.

X-Men Films

First Timeline

Deadpool was a villain in the live-action movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine - though this was a very different Deadpool from the wise-cracking anti-hero of the comic books, in the movie he was also given more powers than he traditionally has in the comic books - he is also mute (having no mouth to speak off) - instead of having two swords he actually has two extendable blades that can come out of his arms, similar to Baraka and was a brutal fighter working for William Stryker.

In the end, he was decapitated by Wolverine but it required a team-up with his traditional rival, Sabretooth, to stand a chance against this powerful incarnation of Deadpool.

Second Timeline

In the second film timeline, Deadpool is reimagined as his more traditional anti-villain self, seeking to protect his girlfriend and get revenge on villains like Ajax. After his girlfriend dies from an assassin, Deadpool decides to join the X-Men and protect Firefist from Cable of an alternate future.

Ultimate Spider-Man

In the Ultimate Marvel universe, Deadpool is envisioned as an anti-mutant terrorist and a cyborg, in this universe he is the leader of the Ultimate Marvel version of the Reavers - who hunt mutants for sport as part of a twisted reality TV show.

Fortnite

Deadpool appeared as one of the main antagonist of Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 2 and Chapter 2: Season 3 as a member of the GHOST faction of Midas' Crew (at the time known as The Agency) who opposed the SHADOW faction of the same organization. He was one of the 8 best agents of the whole organization, alongside Midas (the founder and leader of The Agency), Brutus (second-in-command), Meowscles, Skye, TNTina, Gear Specialist Maya and Agent Peely. All of them were also in the Chapter 2: Season 2 battle pass, with Deadpool being the Secret Outfit. The context of how he joined and why was never revealed, however by the time of Chapter 5: Season 3 Deadpool returned and now search Midas, seemingly wanting to return under him as a member of the crew.

Personality

Deadpool has always been an unpredictable and mentally unstable individual, and over time, became more comical, since he filled the role of a villain in his early appearances. Deadpool's most noticeable personality trait is probably his sheer insanity, as he often goes from violent to calm, to violent again. Because of his mental illness, Deadpool is also very comical and will often make jokes in the middle of a fight. He also has a habit of annoying people by talking too much, something which he often does to Iron Man.

Lastly, despite his mental instability, Deadpool is not completely heartless and has saved the day many times, such as when he killed his evil counterparts and when he saved Nick Fury from a time traveling Adolf Hitler. Despite his traumatic childhood on the family side, Deadpool has shown himself to be very close to his daughter, Eleanor Camacho, although he has made many mistakes that have more than once put a strain on their relationship. At times, he has wanted to keep her away from his life as a mercenary because he did not want to take away from her the stable life that he never had. Overall, Eleanor truly loves her father despite his violent nature and unstable mentality, although it has taken time.

Trivia

Deadpool is confirmed to be a parody of DC Comics' supervillain Deathstroke, whom he shares many similarities with (Deathstroke's name is Slade Wilson, he has a healing factor, and is also a skilled assassin and marksman).
- Allegedly, this was intended as a retaliation attempt for Deathstroke being a ripoff of Marvel's Taskmaster.
  - This became the running gag in Teen Titans Go! To The Movies where the film's antagonist, Slade, often mistaken by Titans as Deadpool, much to his fury.
  - Deadpool also Implies that his birthday was the release of his fight with Pinkie Pie.
  - Some time after this, he also fought The Mask and lost, however thanks to the latter, He was brought back to life by both Wiz and Boomstick.
Deadpool was scheduled to return in the second season of Wolverine and the X-Men before it was canceled.
Deadpool's daughter, Eleanor, inherited the same powers as her father, albeit a more powerful version due to not having cancer cells which partially inhibit Deadpool's own healing factor.
