History[]
500,000 years ago, Deathsaurus created an almighty superweapon known as the Planet-Destroying Fortress, seeking to use it to become the Emperor of Destruction of the Decepticons. However, before he could use it, the Autobot Star Saber led an attack on the fortress and sealed it away within the Dark Nebula, leading Deathsaurus to develop a deep enmity towards the young Autobot commander from that day forward.
Following the defeat of Devil Z and the end of the MasterForce War on Earth however, Deathsaurus finally got his wish when he took over the Decepticons and became Emperor of Destruction, leading them in place of Overlord. After freeing his Planet-Destroying Fortress from the Dark Nebula, Deathsaurus led the Decepticons in a campaign across the galaxy to obtain enough energy to power the fortress so he could use it to conquer the universe. After ravaging numerous planets in search of energy, Deathsaurus and the Decepticons finally turned their attention to Earth, only to be met by the Galactic Peace Alliance, an alliance formed by the Autobots, humans and numerous other alien races to stop the Decepticons. Leading them was none other than Deathsaurus' old rival, Star Saber, who had now risen to be Supreme Commander of the Autobots.
Deathsaurus' first move was to attack the Lunar Base on Earth's moon with the aid of the Dinoforce. After the attack was driven off by the Autobots and Star Saber, Deathsaurus summoned the Breastforce to assist him in his campaign against the Earth. The leader of the Breastforce, Leozack, sought to usurp Deathsaurus as ruler of the Decepticons and though Deathsaurus was aware of Leozack's ambitions, he did not see them as too much of a threat and chose to simply ignore them. Eventually, after the Breastforce was joined by Hellbat, who sought to usurp Leozack as leader of the Breastforce, the two spent far too much time quarreling amongst each other to pose a threat to Deathsaurus' rule.
After raising the lost continent of Atlantis and draining all of its raw power, Deathsaurus finally had enough energy to restore the Planet-Destroying Fortress and returned to the Dark Nebula with the Breastforce to refuel it, abandoning the useless Dinoforce on Earth. With the Planet-Destroying Fortress fully operational, Deathsaurus sought to use it not to conquer the Earth but to destroy it, wiping away the planet where numerous past Decepticon leaders had met their defeats and stain it posed on the history of the Decepticons. However, to get back at Deathsaurus for abandoning them, the Dinoforce informed the Autobots of the weakness of the fortress so they could destroy it. While Star Saber dueled Deathsaurus atop the fortress, Star Saber's adopted human son Jan traveled to the fortress' weak spot and attacked it to stop the rain of destruction the fortress was unleashing upon Earth. At the climax of their final battle, after having taken out one of Deathsaurus' eyes, Star Saber clashed his sword with Deathsaurus' for a final time. Ultimately, Star Saber defeated Deathsaurus by stabbing him and breaking his sword off in his chest, critically wounding the Emperor of Destruction. However, Deathsaurus refused to give in just yet and set the Planet-Destroying Fortress to collide into Earth in a final act of spite before blowing himself out the airlock, declaring to Star Saber he would return. While Deathsaurus' body drifted away however, his fortress was destroyed by Victory Saber before it could collide with the planet. Deathsaurus was not heard from following these events, his body last seen drifting through space lifelessly.
Other Appearances[]
Manga[]
Deathsaurus appears as the main antagonist in the manga adaptation of Victory where has the same objective he does in the anime of recovering the Planet-Destroying Fortress. Unlike in the anime, Deathsaurus is shown to have a soft spot for children, even human children. It is also revealed at the end of the manga that the reason Deathsaurus wanted to reobtain the Planet-Destroying Fortress was because it housed the families of all the Decepticons, including his own wife Esmeral. Upon learning this fact, the Autobots made peace with the Decepticons and put an end to the Victory War, while Deathsaurus and all the other Decepticons were reunited with their families at last.
IDW comics[]
Deathsaurus appears in the IDW comics as a major villain in the Transformers More than Meets the Eye series where he leads his own faction of Decepticons against the Lost Light. Despite that, he was portrayed in a rather honorable light, as he abandoned the Decepticons becuase he disapproved of Megatron's brutality towards his own troops, and also why he hesitated to side with Tarn of the D.J.D. when he approached him for an alliance. Eventually, he abandoned Tarn to die at Megatron's hands, and would continue to cyberform various worlds as he had done before. He also appears in the 2019 reboot series where he was portrayed far more villainous than his previous incarnations.
