I need you to listen to me. We're not gonna give up this deal to be your errand boys, do you understand? For what, to watch a bunch of junkies get a better high?
~ Declan trying to reject Walter White's business proposition.

Declan is a supporting character in Season 5 of AMC crime drama show Breaking Bad.

He is a meth distributor based in Phoenix, Arizona, while being in competition with the likes of drug kingpin Gustavo Fring. He is first contacted by Gus' high-ranking employee, Mike Ehrmantraut, and buys methylamine to buy a share of his partnership with Mike's associate Jesse Pinkman in the Heisenberg's Empire ran by Jesse's partner Walter White. However, the deal was blocked by Walt; it was then he made Declan and his crew his distributors, and Declan acquires Mike's partnership for $5 million.

Later on after Walt's retirement, Declan takes charge of the drug empire, and promotes Todd Alquist to cook Walt's meth recipe, but in the end Declan fires Todd due to the latter's inexperience and resolves to make his own low-grade meth in Arizona. This soon proves to be Declan's undoing, however, when he and his crew are killed en masse by Todd's uncle Jack Welker and his white supremacist gang on the orders of fellow colleague, Lydia Rodarte-Quayle.

He was portrayed by Louis Ferreira, who also portrayed Art Blank in Saw IV.

Biography[]

Prior to the events he was displayed on the screen with, Declan was known to be acquainted with Mike Ehrmantraut when the latter confirmed that the former was one of his contacts back when Mike used to work for drug kingpin Gus Fring and his criminal empire. Mike soon contacts Declan by phone and holds a meeting in the desert, with Mike taking his associate Jesse Pinkman as well. Once Declan arrives, Mike and Jesse try to sign a deal to give him a stake in the methylamine they had recently robbed from a train. Declan refuses to buy only two-thirds of the lot and explains that the high prices were to pay off the Blue Sky created by Jesse and his business partner Walter White.

A few days later, Declan meets up with Mike and Jesse again - only this time Walt joins the duo and takes charge of the meeting. Walt tells Declan that if he uses methylamine to produce 99.1% methamphetamine, everyone can make more money. The best that Declan can do is 70% which makes this offer desirable. Before Declan agrees, Walt in a show of ego demands him to guess who he is and to say his name which Declan defeatedly remarks "Heisenberg", as Declan learns Walt masterminded Gus's death instead of The Cartel as rumored. This shifts the control of the meeting all to Walter as the culmination of everything he has done during the series has led to a name that strikes fear into the hearts of career kingpins.

After Jesse retired from the business, Walt continues to cook meth by hiring his assistant chef Todd Alquist in order to deliver meth to Declan's man in Arizona. After Heisenberg's retirement, Declan is put in charge of the operation. Todd takes over as head chef for Declan and their distributor Lydia Rodarte-Quayle. At some point, though, Declan fires Todd and returns to using his original stimulant. Later on, Lydia met Declan and his crew in a hidden meth lab in the Arizona Desert. Their low-quality methamphetamine wasn't enough to sell in the Czech Republic, and they had a $50 million hole in front of them. Declan refuses to clean up his business or rehire Todd.

However, this would prove to be Declan's undoing - as Lydia responds by hiring Todd's uncle, Jack Welker, and his Neo-Nazi gang to eliminate Declan and his crew. This happens when the gang ambushes Declan and his crew, wiping them out in the end; Declan gets injured in the shootout and makes a last-ditch attempt to escape, but Jack intercepts him and kills Declan by shooting him in the head.
