Sonic: Heheh... I was wondering how long it would take for you bozos to show up. You two boys starting to rust yet?
Bocoe: We are incapable of corrosion!
Decoe: You on the other hand are a rotten little hedgehog!
~ Decoe and Bocoe confronting Sonic.

Decoe and Bocoe are the secondary antagonists of the 2003 anime series, Sonic X. They are Dr. Eggman's henchmen, and they wish to assist him with his sundry schemes.

They were both built by Dr. Eggman for the purpose of serving him, protecting him as well as taking care of other robots and assisting with construction of said robots and other machines.

Decoe was voiced by the late Ken Yamaguchi in Japanese and by Andrew Rannells, (who voiced ENeMeE in Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, and Veneer in Trolls: Band Together) in English dub.

Bocoe was voiced by Bin Shimada in Japanese dub and Darren Dunstan in English dub.

Appearance and Personality[]

Decoe is a tall, thin gold robot and often the brains behind the two; Bocoe is a short, stout silver robot who often carries out the plans. Though the two lack very much substance when it comes to personality, they are quite the quipsters, but also disgruntled and overworked, frequently saying bad things about Dr. Eggman despite loyally serving him.

History[]

The two debuted as nameless robots in the episode, "Chaos Control Freaks". When Sonic caused Chaos Control, the robots were teleported (along with everyone else) to Station Square.

They only made some minor appearances until a two-parter episode, "Beating Eggman." In these two episodes, Decoe and Bocoe launched robots to attack G.U.N. and after this, their appearances became much more consistent and their lines consequently spiked in quantity.

Eventually, Christopher Thorndyke saved their lives in the episode, "The Volcanic Venture," and they temporarily joined Sonic's side before Chris requested they take him to Dr. Eggman. After Chris' confrontation with Dr. Eggman about time coming to a stop, Decoe and Bocoe reassume their jobs abruptly, never returning to the Thorndyke residence.

In the way of competence and actual power, Decoe and Bocoe are quintessentially portrayed as bumbling ne'er-do-wells, their only consistent skill being repairing and building robots and machines. There are a few times, however, where Decoe and Bocoe showed their true competence when the situation required it. They have, on occasion, shown off their ability to fuse together to accomplish a few specific tasks, such as summoning Bokkun, or blasting down iron bars with a missile. In the episode "Hedgehog Hunt," Decoe and Bocoe demonstrate a degree martial arts skills by, along with Bokkun, quashing an attempt by Black Narcissus to attack Dr. Eggman using a synchronized takedown technique.

Trivia[]

Kinkyū Hasshin Omega and Epsilon

Omega and Epsilon.

  • According to Dr. Eggman, Decoe and Bocoe can both be self-destructed. However, it never happened.
  • There's a very high chance that Decoe and Bocoe were based on Dr. Bug's sidekicks/henchmen, Omega and Epsilon, from the anime series, Kinkyū Hasshin Saver Kids, which was also made by TMS Entertainment. Not only are their designs nearly identical, but they also work for comical mad scientists who want to take over the world.
  • In the early episodes, Decoe and Bocoe have actual robot voices. But in later episodes, they start to have normal voices. It's unknown how and why their voices changed.
  • Despite working with Dr. Eggman and Bokkun, Decoe and Bocoe don't always get along with them.
  • At the end of "The Volcanic Venture", Decoe and Bocoe abandon Dr. Eggman, and they move in with Chris, his family, and Team Sonic. But in "The Beginning of the End", they start to work with Dr. Eggman again.
