Deep Mirror is the overarching antagonist of the anime series Happiness Charge Pretty Cure!. He is the leader of the Phantom Empire and Queen Mirage's advisor, who locates things for her. However, it turns out that he is the mastermind behind the invasion of the Blue Sky Kingdom. His real name is Red and he is also in fact a God like Blue, his younger brother.
He was voiced by Kazuhiko Inoue.
Appearance[]
Deep Mirror appears as a mirror having a smiling face with red eyes. Inside the mirror is a shadow resembling Blue. In episode 43, it is revealed that the figure inside is his true form, known as Red, who indeed resembles Blue due to being the latter's brother. He has red hair and eyes, wears a black sweater and red pants. He later switches his clothes with a red suit, black belt and purple cloak, the latter of which he discards in the final battle.
Personality[]
Deep Mirror initially appears to be loyal to Queen Mirage and orders other generals on her behalf. He is also implied to be much more intelligent than he appears, as he's the one instructing Mirage on her plans. Without him, she would fail easily.
Once he is revealed to be Red, Deep Mirror is confirmed to have been using Queen Mirage all along for his own invasion on Earth. Cunning and manipulative, he takes interest in Cure Lovely and initially wants to turn her into the next Queen Mirage, only to try to have his revenge on her once that fails. Although Deep Mirror is not completely evil, there is the reason of why he became evil, which is because his heart is consumed with despair and anger which causes him to hate beautiful things.
In the end, after understanding the meaning of love, Red finally makes amend with Blue and helps the latter repair their home planet.
History[]
Deep Mirror alongside Queen Mirage and their generals were once sealed away inside of Axia in the Blue Sky Kingdom. However, their seal was recklessly broken by Hime, allowing them to begin their invasion on the kingdom. Acting as Queen Mirage's advisor, he instructs her several steps needed to fight the new Pretty Cure. When they first appear in Pikarigaoka, he reveals their whereabouts to her and tells her of how they have diminished the invasion forces. He also reveals the existence of Cure Honey and her ability to calm people down with her singing after she constantly thwarted the invasion.
Deep Mirror then makes Queen Mirage believe that Blue is using Cure Lovely to defeat her, so that she will grow her resentment toward him. Just when the Oresky Trio are about to be purified, he intervenes and stops the process.
