He is voiced by Richard Epcar who previously voiced Shellshock, Mutitus, Cyclops, Goatan, the Primator, the Invenusable Flytrap, Inciserator and the Brick Bully in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Bucket of Bolts and later voiced Autochthon and Protectron all also in Zeo, the Blazinator in Power Rangers Turbo, Vacsacker in Power Rangers In Space, Barbarax and Fishface in Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, Cyclopter in Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue, Vexicon in Power Rangers Time Force and Bowling Org in Power Rangers Wild Force. Outside of Power Rangers, he is best known as the Joker in the Injustice game series and Akuma in Street Fighter V.
Personality[]
The Defoliator is a powerful and arrogant monster absolutely confident in his own abilities to the point of arrogance. Like many other monsters, he typically speaks in nature and plant related lingo and puns. In spite of his evil nature, he never yells even when angry and remains monotone but he is very loyal to Queen Machina.
Biography[]
Past[]
The Defoliator was manufactured by the Machine Empire, working under King Mondo and Queen Machina. With their monsters and never-ending army of Cogs, the Machine Empire was able to devastate and conquer entire galaxies.
Zeo[]
In 1996, King Mondo leads his Machine Empire to the Moon where they drive out Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa but their invasion is ultimately stalled by the interference of the Zeo Rangers.
After the Zeo Rangers destroy the Robocupid and ruin the Machine Empire's plans to make all humans fall in love with machines, Queen Machina sends the Defoliator as part of a plan to destroy the Rangers whilst they recover from the Robocupid's attack, cook all humans and melt the Power Chamber. After an hour of cooking Angel Grove, Klank and Orbus enlarge him to amplify his effects so the Zeo Rangers summon the Zeo Megazord which the Defoliator is more than a match for until Tanya blasts and kicks him with the Zeo II Battle Helmet. After Kat blasts him with lasers and a tornado attack from the Zeo I Battle Helmet, they slash him with the Zeo Megazord Saber and seemingly finish him off with an energized slash.
Despite this, the Defoliator survives intact and quickly reboots; determined to destroy every plant on Earth. Rampaging in Angel Grove Park, the monster soon encounters and fights Kat and Tanya; managing to completely overwhelm both so Adam and Rocky are forced to pull Tommy out of his date. Despite this, they continue to struggle and are completely defeated. Before the Defoliator can continue his mission though, Billy strengthens the power of the Zeo Blaster since they cannot risk him growing giant again. With the enhanced weapon, the Zeo Rangers defeat the Defoliator for good since he cannot be enlarged for a second time by Klank and Orbus because his body is completely destroyed.
“ | Sprocket: I really hate those lousy Power Rangers! Look at what they've done this time! Mommy, they've ruined my favourite creation! Machina: There, there my dear. Don't blame yourself. You mustn't take it personally. They have ruined all our creations. |

~ Sprocket and Machina after Punch-A-Bunch destroyed his glove. |
After Prince Sprocket complains about Punch-A-Bunch damaging himself during battle against the Zeo Rangers, Boohoo the Clown is indirectly referenced along with all previous monsters used up to that point when Machina reassures her distraught son that the Rangers have ruined all of their monsters.
When Adam finds a cog medallion whilst training for a karate tournament, Klank bemoans how this could lead to the failure of the plan with Admiral Abominator but Orbus mentions it not being the first time; indirectly referencing the Defoliator.
Later, Trey of Triforia transfers his Gold Ranger powers to Jason Scott to deny them to King Mondo, the Emperor executes his ultimate plan; recreating an army of past monsters (including the Defoliator) and upgrading them with the Neo-Plutonium Armour. The new and improved monsters are much stronger than they were before and are completely immune to the Rangers' weapons with the ultimate mission of destroying the Zeo Megazord. However, the four he sends out are destroyed by the new Super Zeozords and he is forced to scrap the rest of the now useless monsters which include the Defoliator.
The Defoliator is rebuilt and seen in the audience at Prince Gasket's Machine Arena when Tommy forces Jason to fight Altor. However, the Rangers are later able to escape after Tritor destroys the shield generator which renders Gasket's plan a failure. What happened to the Defoliator after this is unknown as he was never seen again but it is likely that Zordon's Energy Wave vaporized him since there was nothing redeemable about him.

Trivia[]
- In Ohranger, the Defoliator was destroyed at human size and then killed as a giant whereas it was changed to the inverse for Zeo.
- This was changed so that they could better fit in the Tommy romance subplot.
- In Ohranger, the Defoliator was initially defeated by the Zeo V Power Sword energy slash which is why he seemed to be killed by a red energy slash instead of the Zeo Blaster ball.
