Demon King Demise is the main antagonist of Akira Himekawa's 2011 manga The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, a loose prequel to the video game of the same name.
He is the leader of the Demon Tribe who seeks to take over the world and steal the legendary Triforce from the goddess Hylia.
Biography[]
Thousands of years before the Era of the Sky, the Demon King Demise rose from a crack in the earth and waged war against both the goddess Hylia and her chosen people, the Hylians.
Demise first appears commanding an army of monsters to invade human settlements, ordering them to cover all that is pure in hellish flames. Seeking to eliminate all opposition and lure Hylia into battle, Demise slaughters his way through Hylian armies and makes his way to the original Link's hometown.
There, Link, wielding the Master Sword and commanding the local military, steps forth to oppose Demise by himself. Demise simply taunts and mocks the hero before slashing his torso, fatally wounding him in a single strike.
Demise faces Hylia herself in a final battle, demanding to know the location of the Triforce. Instead, Hylia reveals that Triforce is in a land that Demise can never reach (the Sky), much to the Demon King's fury. With that, Hylia defeats Demise and seals him away.

Trivia[]
- Demise's encounter with Link contradicts his dialogue in the actual Skyward Sword game, where he doesn't recognize the hero and claims to have never met anyone as brave as him. This seems to indicate that the manga is not canon.
