The Demon Bird is a giant, demonic bird-like being said to be capable of destroying the world and one of the three overarching antagonists of GoGo Sentai Boukenger alongside Gordom and Ouga.
History[]
Ages ago, the Demon Bird terrorized Hermit's Gorge until a lone ninja of the Society of Shadow sealed it by taking possession of its body and sealing its remaining power inside an idol encased in a shrine, causing the Demon Bird's body to take the form of a regular owl. However, it was foretold that hundreds of years later, if the shrine was not kept intact, three moons would rise and the Demon Bird would be unleashed again.
Hundreds of years later as the day drew close, Yaiba of Darkness suggested to Gekkou that they use the Demon Bird's power to defeat the Boukengers but Gekkou refused, believing it to be too dangerous. However, Yaiba disobeyed orders and slashed open the shrine at Hermit's Gorge in order to trigger the Demon Bird's return. He also sent the Boukengers a letter to lure them to Hermit's Gorge so they would be killed by the Demon Bird when it awakened. When Gekkou attempted to repair the shrine, Yaiba of Darkness tied both him and Natsuki to posts for when the Demon Bird awakened. Just as the other Boukengers arrived at the site, midnight came and the three moons rose in the sky, unsealing the Demon Bird and causing it to take over Gekkou's body. The Demon Bird proved unstoppable against all of the Boukengers' mecha and overwhelmed them until the two halves of the shrine were placed over its idol, weakening its power. While still strong, in this state the Demon Bird was overcome and defeated by the Boukengers, resulting in Gekkou returning to normal and re-sealing the Demon Bird within him.
