Deprave is a minor antagonist from The New Adventures of Jonny Quest. She is the main antagonist of the episode "Temple of Gloom".
Appearance[]
Deprave is a woman with long red hair and wearing purple clothes.
Biography[]
Deprave is introduced in the kitchen after Moog took care of an order from her to make Rajiv inflict nightmares on the politician Constantine which last as hallucinations when he wakes up. She then orders a change in target to an ambassador.
When Hardrock saves Constantine from getting killed in traffic, Dr. Quest finds out about the plot to sabotage the peace conference. Upon hearing that Hadji's mentor Jajiv was being made to inflict these hallucinations, Dr. Quest asks Hardrock and Race Bannon to go to the Rajiv is being held at with the boys while he attends the peace conference with Constantine and Boris.
Around this time, she orders Moog to turn off the machine used to make Rajiv disrupt the peace conference so she can tell him how easy it would be not to fight the machine, but he refutes this, leading to her being disgusted by his peaceful views.
She then orders Moog to set the machine to full power so that she can carry out her goal of sabotaging the peace talks. This resulted in Constantine hallucinating Dr. Quest as a beast and try to throw him off the balcony, which nearly leads to them getting killed. But Dr. Quest manages to get him to overcome the hallucination.
When Race and Hardrock reach the temple with the boys, Deprave learns of their intrusion and orders Moog to help track them down, which leads to all four falling into trap doors with Jonny and Hadji locked in a cage, Race strapped to a table, and Hardrock getting buried under a huge pile of stones. Around this time, Deprave's plot starts to begin taking effect when the hallucinations start to overtake Boris and Constantine which leads to a fight Dr. Quest tries to break up.
Deprave announces to three of the heroes on why she intends to disrupt the peace talks, she plans to have the countries involved in the peace talks annihilate each other so she can profit from her people picking up the pieces. She then has Rajiv bring several statues to life so they can kill Race Bannon. But Rajiv has Hadji use the glass ruby to open a hole in the cage so he and Jonny can escape and free Race. When they get cornered by Moog and the statues, Hardrock comes to the rescue by throwing Moog from the stairs and giving Race and the boys a ride on his back to escape the statues where they encounter a fourth living statue sent by Deprave to kill them.
At this time, the peace talks take a turn for the worse as Deprave had the machine’s power maxed out. Hadji uses the glass ruby once more by rendering the statues motionless and freeing his mentor from the machine, putting an end to the fighting at the peace talks. When the temple starts to collapse, Deprave escapes with Moog, who survived the fall. However, they are not shown exiting the temple, so it is unknown if they actually survived.
Personality[]
Deprave is shown to be a sadistic and cruel woman, depraved to the core like her name implies, as well as an opportunist trying to take advantage of the distress of others. She claims to want her people to pick up the pieces of the war, but it is unknown what her relationship actually is with them, let alone if she actually cares about them.
