Derek Bates
Derek Bates is the main antagonist in the 2005 action film Into the Blue. He was Reyes' worker.
He was portrayed by Josh Brolin, who also played Dr. William Block in Planet Terror, George W. Bush in W., Dan White in Milk, Tom Chaney in the 2010 True Grit film, Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Cable in Deadpool 2.
Biography[]
Bates is a greedy man who is obsessed with finding gold. He lives in a houseboat boat with a young couple, Jared and Sam. Jared's friend Bryce and his girlfriend Amanda find a mysterious object in the remains of a legendary French pirate ship which contains of gold coins, unfountionaly both Bryce and Amanada had troubles in law because of cocaine trafficking which lead drug lord Reyes and his accsosite Primo chased them for money. Corrupt cop (and Bates' henchman) Rey takes Sam as his hostage to make Jared and Bryce disclose the location of the cocaine. Jared kills Bates during an underwater battle when he causes a propane tank to propel towards Bates, which explodes and kills him.
