Destruction Troops are a group appearing as the secondary antagonists of the video games Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. They are a robot army created to serve Lyric the Last Ancient.

History

Rise of Lyric

Destruction Troops were created by Lyric who planned to use them to destroy all living creatures on Earth and replace them with robots. His plans were stopped by two heroes from the future, Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails the Fox. He was imprisoned, while his robot army was deactivated and lay dormant for a thousand years.

In the present, Dr. Eggman dug up and reactivated several Destruction Troops to use them against Team Sonic. After they accidentally released Lyric from his prison, the villain activated even more of his old robots, and took control of Eggman's batch of them after meeting him. Destruction Troops continued to serve Lyric in his search for Chaos Crystals until he was defeated by Team Sonic. After that, they were shut off and scrapped.

Shattered Crystal

In this game, Destruction Troops' origin is similar to that shown in Rise of Lyric. They used to serve Lyric before he was imprisoned for trying to steal the Crystal of Power, and were shut down when he was defeated.

After Lyric broke out millenia later, he retook control of his robots and used them to search for the fragments of the crystal and fight Sonic and his friends. It's presumed that after Lyric's second defeat, Destruction Troops were destroyed or deactivated permanently.
