Detective Trupo is the main antagonist of the 2007 crime film American Gangster.
In his characterisation, he is a corrupt New York police detective and the ringleader of a drug trafficking operation that specialises in colluding with the city's gangland underworld. He soon comes into conflict with the city's drug kingpin Frank Lucas as the story goes on.
He was portrayed by Josh Brolin, who also played Thanos in the MCU.
Biography[]
Detective Trupo is known to be a police detective based in New York City who ended up becoming corrupt at some stage. Eventually he enforces his own corrupt police unit and they operate their corrupt activities within the city and Newark near New Jeresy, specificially in extortion and drug trafficking; Trupo's unit would arrest criminals in possession drugs, then seize it from the evidence room before making a profit out of it by selling it back to numerous gangland figures. Essentinally, Trupo controls the market with this kind of operation.
Soon enough Trupo's corrupt activities lead to him making two sworn enemies - honest Newark detective Richie Roberts and the city's gangland emperor Frank Lucas, who are both also sworn enemies with each other yet individually cross paths with Trupo on seperate occasions. In Richie's case, he witnesses Trupo and his men threatening people at a cafe and stealing their money. In Frank's case, Trupo extorts money from him and later murders his drug when issuing a warrant for a raid at his mansion and terrorizing his family in the process.
However, when Richie eventually arrests Frank and brings down his drug empire, the two work together to bring Trupo to justice by destroying his operation. Eventually both Richie's efforts and Frank's corporation lead to Trupo's drug operation getting shut down; as everybody in Trupo's unit and all other corrupt officials in their payroll are all arrested in the end. Soon enough Trupo is set to be arrested him. Unable to accept this fate, Trupo commits suicide by shooting himself dead; he nevertheless goes to hell as punishment and his operation is shut down thanks to both Richie and Frank themselves.

- Leuci was a real-life detective who worked to expose corruption within the police department and was a key figure in a real-life corruption investigation.
