Devil Theory are major antagonists in the 2023 indie platformer video game Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, made by Team Reptile. They are a group of writers, who, after being thrown out of Mataan, hold control over Pyramid Island. With a complete lack of any honor, it is revealed that they made a deal with Faux and are working with him and the police, siccing the force on any writer that dare oppose them.
History[]
Devil Theory is first shown after the BRC has conquered the Millenium Mall and Red recovers from being sniped in the head by Escher. Vinyl describes them to the BRC as the "nastiest crew [they] can imagine". She says that they moved to Pyramid Island after being kicked out of Mataan and are definitely involved in some shady business.
The BRC arrives at Pyramid Island and face off against Devil Theory in some challenges, with some of them ending in DT baiting the crew into a trap where they are attacked by the police. Eventually DT calls the police and sics them on the BRC once more, this time with the police arriving in attack helicopters. After beating them, the BRC gets called "mainland trash" by DT and they say that they need to get 150 REP before they can challenge that to a score battle. Once the BRC have enough REP, they meet up with Devil Theory, who insult them for working with DJ Cyber, who according to them has no honor as he was supposedly the one who murdered Felix and stole his mask. Tryce and Red call them out as hypocrites as Devil Theory themselves have been hardly honest as they sicced the police on them for no reason.
After losing the crew battle to the BRC, Devil Theory retorts that though they have won the battle, they will lose the war, and that DJ Cyber will deal with them.
Devil Theory don't appear again until right before the first phase of the final battle against Faux in Mataan, where a DT member is thrown across the street by Faux in his rampage to eliminate every writer in New Amsterdam. Another member pleads with him, saying they had a deal and that he will regret what he's doing. BRC member Solace comes in and shields them from Faux.
After Faux is defeated, in the post-game, a Devil Theory member can be seen grinding on the rails on Pyramid Island. If you speak to him, he will give the player a challenge to get a score of 5 million points under a time limit, and if the player succeeds, he will join the BRC as a playable character.
