Dhuran is a minor antagonist in the manga adaptation of Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation, Dragon Quest: Land of Illusion. Unlike his canon counterpart, the manga version of Dhuran completely disregards the idea of a fair duel and is a generally sadistic fiend.
Personality[]
Easily the vilest Dread Fiend, Dhuran gets angry at the idea of being requested a fair duel and is perfectly willing to play dirty, absorbing all of Bottz's allies to use their abilities while taunting him about it. Sadistic to a fault, Dhuran brainwashed the swordsman Terry into fighting the heroes for his enjoyment. At the same time, Dhuran does not accept his underlings' failure, killing his right-hand Harmour solely for letting the Stormsgate Citadel crash to the ground.
Biography[]
Dhruan is the strongest member of the Four Dread Fiends under the command of Mortamor. Dhuran was sent to the surface world by his master, where he would stay in the flying fortress known as Stormsgate Citadel. At some point, Dhuran has caught wind of Terry's journey, and sent his right-hand Harmour to recruit them. While at first uninterested, Dhuran later challenged Terry to a fight, and easily broke his swords. Dhuran then brainwashed the swordsman by giving them a cursed blade.
Soon, Bottz, Carver, Milly, Nevan, and Ashlynn reached the Stormsgate Citadel. While Harmour used the castle's weapons to confront them, the heroes won and damaged the citadel. With the castle now grounded, Dhuran had the brainwashed Terry kill Harmour for failing them.
After this, Dhuran ordered Terry to kill the heroes. During the fight, Milly recognized Terry as her long lost brother, much to her horror. While Terry hesitated, Dhuran had the cursed sword urge Terry to kill Milly. Luckily, Milly was able to talk Terry back to his senses, who then destroyed the cursed sword. Dhuran, who had been watching this from his throne and commented it to be "a great show:, decided to step in himself.
Once the heroes stepped into Dhuran's throne room, he told them that the entire Stormsgate Citadel is essentially his true self, and that he could easily manipulate the castle to combat them. With that, the throne room is revealed to be made up of flesh that can absorbsall attacks, ranging from spells to punches. Seeing this, Bottz demanded Dhuran to fight honorably, only for Dhuran to get angry for a weakling like Bottz having such requests. Dhuran then absorbed all monsters in the fortress into himself, even devouring all of Bottz's friends and Terry at the same time. Thus, Dhuran is able to use their abilities against Bottz, gloating about how he is looking forward to hear them screaming in pain when they are melting as he attacked the hero. While Bottz nearly gave into despair and accepted his fate, the motivation of his friends' caring allowed them to summon all Zenithian equipment, telling Dhuran that he now knows how to beat him-by destroying Stormsgate Citadel completely. With that, Bottz used a powerful attack that obliterated the fortress, destroying Dhuran with it.
