In Guild Wars 2, he is voiced by Keston John.
Biography[]
Originally, Dhum was a member of the Six Human Gods as the God of Death. He was a cruel ruler of the Underworld, devouring souls and preventing resurrections in the name of "death undeniable". Around 48 BE, the Tyrian-born half-god son of the goddess Dwayna, Grenth, challenged Dhuum with the help of the Seven Rapers, stripping Dhuum of his powers. Dhuum then became sealed in the Hall of Judgment with the help of magic, as the new God of Death was unable to destroy him completely. During his imprisonment, Dhuum continued devouring the souls of people who ended in his realm, slowly regaining his strength. At an unknown point, he allied with the god Abaddon and Menzies, Balthazar's half-brother, which ultimately resulted in bringing the Nightfall in Elona, an apocalyptic event. The Seven Reapers managed to imprison Dhuum again, however, he was constantly trying to break free. After Grenth had departed from Tyria with the other gods, Dhuum managed to redirect the River of Souls, allowing him to obtain more souls. His efforts had been slowed by Desmina, Grenth's first follower, however, Dhuum managed to capture and corrupt her body, while her soul managed to run away. Eventually, Desmina entered Tyria and enlisted the help of several adventurers, starting the events of "Hall of Chains" raid.
Appearance[]
Dhuum's appearance is slightly different between the games, however, around two-hundred and fifty years passed between these events. In Guild Wars, Dhuum has a black tattered robe with a hood and a skull mask. In Guild Wars 2, he has a more corporeal appearance, wearing a dark armor with a helmet. In both cases, he has green energy pulsating from his body, and he wields a massive scythe.
