Dialga is a recurring character in the Pokémon franchise.
It is a Steel/Dragon type Legendary Pokémon and member of the Creation Trio, a trio of god-like Pokémon, each possessing and embodying an element of reality. Its "siblings" Palkia and Giratina embody space and antimatter respectively, while Dialga embodies time. Along with its "siblings", Dialga possesses two forms; its Origin Form, its original appearance and the one it takes while in the Temporal World, and its Altered Form, the form it takes out of the Temporal World.

Biography[]
Origins[]
In the start of the universe, Arceus created Dialga, Palkia and Giratina at the same time, forming the Creation Trio and as a result, giving birth to the Pokémon universe and maybe multiverse. After its sibling Giratina was banished to the Distortion World, both it and Palkia created their own dimensions where they'd live from that moment on, isolated from everything else.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus[]
As Giratina and Volo open a vortex above the Temple of Sinnoh to try and get Arceus out of hiding, both Dialga and Palkia become berserk by it, creating space-time distortions, which causes Pokémon from the future to appear, create Alpha Pokémon and make Noble Pokémon go berserk as well.
Pokémon Diamond[]
In the climax of the games, Dialga is summoned atop Spear Pillar by Cyrus and uses the Red Chain to control the godly dragon and force it to destroy the whole universe and create a new one lacking any kind of "spirit" in it. Lucas/Dawn and Barry arrive at Spear Pillar, they together defeat Jupiter and Mars and then Lucas/Dawn manage to beat Cyrus once and for all. The Lake Guardians, Uxie, Meprit and Azelf appear after being freed by them and together, free Dialga from the Red Chain, allowing Lucas/Dawn to battle and catch it, finally saving the universe.
Pokémon Platinum[]
Similarly to Pokémon Diamond, Dialga is summoned atop Spear Pillar but now along with its counterpart Palkia by Cyrus to create his new universe and they're controlled by Red Chains. Even though the Lake Guardians appear to help as well, they're unable to free both Legendaries at the same time, making Cyrus's victory almost certain. Due to his actions however, Giratina emerges at the Spear Pillar from the Distortion World, frees both Dialga and Palkia before dragging him into the Distortion World, allowing both to fly away back into their homeworlds.
Anime[]
The Rise of Darkrai[]
Dialga and Palkia encounter one another in the Unown Dimension and clash. Injured by Dialga's Roar of Time, Palkia flees to Alamos Town, causing the city and its residents to find themselves trapped within another dimension, slowly disintegrating due to the presence of Palkia.
Then Dialga arrives to fight Palkia, causing the dimension to shrink faster with every blow the two deal. Darkrai attempts to stop the two, only for them to blast and seemingly kill him as he fades away from the dimension. Just before the two deal the finishing blow, Ash and Dawn use the bells of the Space-Time Towers to play "Oración", soothing Dialga and Palkia. While Dialga returns to its home dimension, Palkia shows sorrow for getting Alamos Town involved and restores it by sending it back to the correct dimension.
Giratina and the Sky Warrior[]
Dialga and Palkia's initial clash causes pollution to leak into the Reverse World, enraging Giratina. When Dialga was at a lake for a drink, Giratina emerged from a portal and dragged Dialga into the Reverse World so it could claim its revenge. However, Shaymin, who was inadvertently dragged in as well, unleashes a Seed Flare, opening a portal to the real world. Dialga manages to escape and traps Giratina within a time loop, preventing it from escaping.
Arceus and the Jewel of Life[]
It is revealed that Dialga and Palkia initially fought one another due to Arceus preparing to awaken, causing their dimensions to merge. As such, the two clashed as they saw the other as a trespasser to their territory. When a spatial rift materializes in Michima Town, Sheena summons Dialga to save Pikachu and Piplup before they are sucked into it and seals it. Giratina suddenly appears and attacks Dialga, only stopping its rage once it recognizes Ash as the one who helped it before.
Once Arceus appears to eradicate humanity, Sheena summons the Creation Trio to stop Arceus. While they hold it off, Dialga sends Ash, Brock, Dawn, and Sheena back in time so they could change the past. Once they succeed in ceasing Arceus' wrath, it restores the town and the three, enabling Dialga to return to its dimension.
