Diane Elrea was a Tectonese female who was the antagonist of the Alien Nation episode The Takeover.
She was portrayed by Gwynyth Walsh, who portrayed the Klingon B'Etor on the Star Trek series The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine and movie Star Trek: Generations.
Elrea was one of the 250,000 Tectonese slaves on the slave ship Gruza when it crashed in California in 1991. While not a Kleezantsun, or overseer herself, she realized the potential of the gas - which she called the holy gas - the overseers used on the slave ship to control their slaves. Finding the gas worked both with Newcomers and humans she set out to obtain the gas so that she could build an army of her own.
When the city of Los Angeles was beset by riots in 1996, Elrea saw an opportunity to obtain holy gas when she learned of some of it being held in an evidence locker at at a police station where nearly everyone was out trying to regain control of the city. Recruiting a small gang to accompany her, she and her compatriots cleaned out the evidence locker of all its valuables, with Elrea making sure to grab the gas canister. George Francisco - the only officer left at the station - was unable to stop Elrea from taking his wife Susan hostage. When Francisco tried to exchange his wife for the gang member Kenny Elrea shot and killed Kenny and shot Francisco as well, who survived due to the bullet proof vest he was holding.
Revealing her plans to raise an army with the gas to Susan, Elrea used the gas to force Susan to do her bidding. She was able to take the LAPD Captain Bryon Grazer hostage as well. She was stopped when Matthew Sikes was able to shoot the canister containing the holy gas, causing it to explode in the car. In the confusion Sikes and Francisco were able to rescue Elrea's hostages, and place Elrea under arrest for her many crimes.
