Catching up to the man, Johnny tries to fire one of his nails at him, only for THE WORLD to activate and him to disengage after the shot. Diego stops time once more to teleport ahead of Johnny, both knowing of each-other's powers. Taking second place at Union Beach, Diego boards a boat to New York to continue the race. Bumping into him in Manhattan, Diego tries to set up a wire trap for Johnny but fails when Johnny destroys a wall to block the shot. Tusk tries to attack Diego and Diego plans to attack but decides not to fight it when he notices Tusk's slight movement in the frozen time. Diego then tries later sets Johnny alight through burning oil, making our hero head into the sewers due to the blaze. A wounded Johnny is stopped in his tracks. Tusk tries to climb up Diego's leg for one last attack, only for Diego to cut off his leg, cause the limb to defeat Johnny in an ironic twist, and Diego crosses the finish line at first place, winning the Steel Ball Run.
After this, Diego heads to Trinity Church to obtain the Saint's Corpse, but he is spotted by Lucy Steel. Diego interrogates her and reveals his plans to kill Stephen Steel and torture her, only for Lucy to reveal the original Diego's head to him and tossing it at him when he attempts to flee, sealing his fate.
