Abilities and Powers[]

Biography[]

Past[]

Ding was once a kung fu student who likely lived in the Valley of Peace. He had a mental focus unlike any other, being able to control a set of powerful spirit orbs with incredible force and precision at will. Oogway saw his talent and, apparently weary of his potential, sent him to study with a group of monks in a castle atop of Mugu Mountain. But as time went by, Ding grew impatient and power hungry, and eventually turned on his own mentors. He learned that he could use his orbs and pure focus to take control of people and objects, and with this ability, he hypnotized the monks to drive them all to their demise by making them jump off a cliff.

Ding then returned to the Valley of Peace to take control of it, causing much damage in the process, but was then confronted by Oogway and the Furious Five of that time. He attempted to crush Oogway with a large piece of rock from the ground lifted by his spirit orbs, but Oogway destroyed the boulder and evaded the orbs' attacks before striking at Ding and defeating him. As punishment for his crimes, Oogway had him imprisoned inside Mugu Mountain's castle all alone forever, while his spirit orbs were confiscated, rendering him powerless.

Unable to escape, Ding eventually passed away inside the castle. But according to legend, his angry ghost still lingered within its walls, waiting for his chance to escape and exact revenge. Fearing this, Oogway and the other masters kept his spirit orbs safe inside the Jade Palace to prevent them from ever returning to him.
