Divina Pulido Juanillo-Mondragon is a supporting character in the second season of the Filipino prime time series FPJ's Batang Quiapo and a major antagonist in the third season of the series.
She is a greedy, opportunistic, and manipulative businesswoman who manipulated Tanggol Montenegro for her to gain fortune after the latter sold her a stolen vehicle. Throughout the series, she was initially shown to be supportive and loyal to Tanggol but it was later revealed that her true intentions was to manipulate Tanggol for her to gain fortune, as this was shown that she was against Tanggol’s plan in stopping the Montenegros' drug dealings. She is also the ex-wife of Brando Mondragon and the mother of Rockyboy Mondragon.
She is played by Rosanna Roces who also played Lolita Silang in FPJ's Ang Probinsyano.
Background[]
She was married to Brando Mondragon, and had a child named Rockyboy Mondragon. However, at some point her familial relationship was broken thanks to Brando’s adultery and abandoned them, causing Brando to raise Rockyboy as a single father. She established her own businesses in both legal and illegal dealings.
One day, she met Tanggol and his friends (through Divina's business partner Raul Ramos) offering them a partnership in her businesses after the gang sold her a stolen vehicle which he claimed from Tisay, and Tanggol would eventually tried of selling the expensive Star of Venus diamond that Tanggol and his friends seized from the African Mamba Cartel in a fake police operation that Don Facundo Caballero had orchestrated of, with the latter not knowing that the aforementioned diamond would later be attempted to be sold by Tanggol and his group of friends to Divina, of which Divina would kept the diamond given her lack of large amount of pesos that the Star of Venus diamond would cost of. Later on, Primo and Amanda left her connections after Tanggol refused to listen to the two that he is being manipulated by Divina and allowed her to be part of Amanda’s supposed personal drug dealing business. One night, she joined Tanggol's duel with Tisay's group after the former learns that the latter has stolen their cars. She later shot Tisay to death (which in turn, saved Madonna's life in the process) and recovered their vehicles.
One day, she made partnership with Augustus Pacheco after her's and Tanggol's group had met Col. Manuel Suarez during the gambling in their casino (of which Tanggol defeated Col. Manuel Suarez in the gambling session, with the Star of Venus diamond being gambled as its prize, of which Col. Manuel Suarez attempted to seized the aforementioned diamond of which it resulted to an initial minor standoff between Tanggol and his group [that consists of Divina, Madonna, Raul, and Peng] and Col. Manuel Suarez and his police group in a civilian form, with Tanggol's friends flanking them from behind.) and with Col. Manuel Suarez found out that they have stolen the Star of Venus, which that info would later be reported on Augustus. Later on, she was tasked by Augustus to eliminate Mamba Cartel only to trick her causing a violent shootout between the Mamba Cartel, Primo’s gang, and Augustus’ forces (that would later cause the deaths of Primo and Amanda, as a result).
Tanggol eventually learns that he is the lost son of Ramon Montenegro (after Marites revealed that revelation to the former), and she joins in the Montenegros’ party. She also met Mayor Roberto Guerrero and persuaded him to form an alliance without Ramon not knowing, but Roberto rejected her invitation. She participated in Tanggol’s dealing in a drifting event with Miguelito Guerrero, and had her group ambush Miguelito’s henchmen. She assigns her trusted henchmen Peng and Raul to investigate the price of their diamonds, unfortunately Peng was killed by their business rivals and stole the diamonds, leaving Raul as its sole survivor and would later return to Divina of telling Peng's fatal fate.
During a day of transaction of the Montenegros, Guerreros, and Arthur Kwon, she was seen helping Tanggol eliminate NADCOM forces and helped Tanggol steal the Montenegros' drug supplies as the latter’s plan to end their illegal activities. Upon Tanggol was nominated to be the Next Mayor of Manila and plans to end his illegal dealings, she initially supported Tanggol but would later went against on Tanggol’s plan as she wasn't able to earn anything thanks to Tanggol’s principles. After her group attempted to ambush the Montenegros and they were severely punished by Ramon, she blames Tanggol for their situation and started to resent the latter for her constant misfortunes. Authorities led by NCLEA Police Corporal Rigor Dimaguiba, Roberto and Miguelito have infiltrated the Montenegros' mansion, and took advantage of the Montenegros situation by stealing Don Julio Montenegro’s wealth revealing her true intentions to Tanggol. She attempted to escape with his henchman Emil but unfortunately they were both arrested.
In her imprisonment, she blames all her misfortunes to Marites as Tanggol went against on her own plans. Roberto then offers her a bail in exchange for pinpointing Tanggol’s current hiding location. She reveals her betrayal to Tanggol for pinpointing the authorities the latter’s current location. Tanggol took her as a hostage in attempt to escape from the surrounding authorities, of which Tanggol accused Divina as a traitor and threatens her for vengeance. She managed to escape during the shootout, and later reunites to her former family, with Rockyboy still rejecting Divina as his mother. She joins Brando’s dealings and tours the latter in her car dealing business, unaware that Tanggool is stalking her. The moment they reached Mondragon Hotel to have dealings with a business partner, she later learns Tanggol stalking her. She alarmed Brando that Tanggol has infiltrated their hotel sending security to get rid of the latter.
Personality[]
Divina is characterized to be manipulative and charismatic leader for having a power to trick anyone her especially if she knows that her pawns are gullible such as Tanggol Montenegro for her to gain influence and fortune. She is a business-minded individual, as she has exceptional abilities to do a lot of dealings to her business partners.
She initially introduced herself to Tanggol as a loyal and supportive individual pretending to help him on his goal to become wealthy but in reality she is manipulating him for her personal influences. Her intentions to Tanggol was gradually revealed went she went against to Tanggol’s plan in stopping the Montenegros' illegal drug dealings. It was fully revealed that she is a traitor in Tanggol's organization where she tricked Tanggol as an ally but in reality as her supposed pawn who went against her plan to continue their illegal transactions.
