Minister: They demand lower prices for electricity, water and gas.

Surikov: So, give them gas! For free! Tear gas! WATER CANNONS! THE NATIONAL GUARD! DISPERSE THEM ALL!

~ Surikov's villainous breakdown when he finds out about the protests.

Dmitry Surikov is a secret antagonist of the 2015 Ukrainian political satire comedy television series Servant of the People created and produced by Kvartal 95 and the current Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who was a comedian at that time.

Surikov is a cunning and insidious politician who has chosen a convenient place in the government of Ukraine as Head of the Supervisory Board of the National Bank, but is constantly progressing in achieving his darker and greedier goals.

Dmitry Surikov was portrayed by Ukrainian actor, director, screenwriter and producer, Honored Artist of Ukraine Dmitry Surzhikov.

Appearance[]

Dmitry Surikov is a full bald man with a gap between his teeth and a raspy voice. He wears strict suits with ties.

Personality[]

Surikov often tries to appear simple and even naive, and, of course, a very kind and decent person, especially in contrast to other members of a corrupt government, in order to ingratiate himself with people who are useful to him. But in fact, Dmitry is an insidious and cruel tyrant whose anger and madness could not been stopped by anything other than the publicity of his atrocities, when his appetite finally played out to the fullest.

Another reason why Surikov is a scary, dangerous and powerful man is his collection of compromising documents on a huge number of public and political figures, which he is not afraid to take into practice.

Biography[]

Servant of the People[]

After a simple history teacher Vasily Goloborodko becomes the new president of Ukraine by complete surprise even for himself he puts his loyal friends in the posts of ministers. Goloborodko's ex-wife Olga Mishchenko becomes the head of the national bank. In this position, she meets Dmitry Surikov the Head of the Supervisory Board, who immediately starts flirting with her. Surikov gets to the point that (allegedly by mistake) locks himself in one of the gold storage facilities of Ukraine together with Olga.

After a while, Tishchenko and Surikov become lovers.

Servant of the People 2. From love to impeachment[]

Surikov1

Surikov's sinister stare, symbolically reflected in the coat of arms of Ukraine.

After the corrupt official Yuriy Chuiko was arrested, the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine turned out to be open. At the same time, Surikov began working for two camps, in secret from each one: Goloborodko and the oligarchs, trying to extract the greatest benefit from each of them. After Chuiko's staged death, his escape from the country and the failed anti-corruption reforms of the IMF, Vasily Goloborodko puts Surikov, who has gained great trust, on the post of prime minister and resigns on his advice.

However, Vasily decides to participate in the elections again, in an attempt to regain the love of the people. Goloborodko and his team are convinced that Surikov (who also ran for president) will give him his votes at the most crucial moment, but this strongly contradicts the instructions of the oligarchs.

Surikov betrays Goloborodko by freezing Yuriy Chuiko's accounts in order to lure him out of the shadows and give false testimony against Vasily on television. Surikov wins the election and imprisons Goloborodko.

Servant of the People 3. Choice[]

Surikov2

Surikov's breakdown is made public.

After becoming president, Surikov finally gets the absolute power he always dreamed of, which quickly drives him crazy. Dmitry divides the branches of Ukraine between corrupt ministers and puts behind bars all those who disagree with him, along the way, trying to achieve a life sentence for Vasily. The tyrant goes so far as to imprison several oligarchs in order to use blackmail to take away parts of their businesses.

Surikov's villainous breakdown occurs when he learns that half a million citizens who are not ready to put up with his atrocities have come out to protest. Through a video conference, the madman shouts at his ministers and threatens to use harsh measures to calm the protests, including tear gas, water cannons and the National Guard. But Surikov did not know that all this time his rage was recorded by the oligarch Mamatov, whom he had recently released from custody. The incriminating video finally helps to achieve the impeachment of Surikov.

While Goloborodko is behind bars the government of Ukraine is replaced many times, and Surikov even becomes the head of one of the new formed wannabe states the Chernomorskaya Confederation.
