“Doc” Ruby is a minor antagonist in Steven Universe. She is a Homeworld Gem who was sent out to find Jasper on Earth.
Appearance[]
Doc Ruby has a red complexion like Crystal Gem Ruby, and wears overalls, along with shorts. She also wears yellow shades, like Peridot.
Personality[]
Doc Ruby is an easily manipulated gem who is the leader of the group who is willing to partake in baseball with Steven and the "humans". She appears to be smarter than Army, Leggy, and Navy Ruby. Due to Eyeball Ruby being psychotic, Doc Ruby is known as the sanest person of the group.
Biography[]
Hit the Diamond[]
Doc Ruby comes out of the ship after the rest of the squad, She is persuaded by Steven to play baseball, as he says if they win, they can check the barn, but if they lose, they have to leave forever, as the gems believe that Peridot is the one they’re looking for. When they lose the match, the Gems accidentally reveal that they are not humans and the Rubies fuse in order to attack. They reveal that they are actually looking for Jasper, but Jasper fell into the planet’s core back in "Super Watermelon Island". prompting Steven to lie that they are on the planet Neptune. They leave in their spaceship and go back into space to look for Jasper.
Earthlings[]
When Steven, Peridot, and Amethyst come back from the Beta Kindergarten, they approach the Rubies in water bubbles spawned by Lapis.
Back to the Moon[]
They were very angry that they were tricked back in their last appearance, so Lapis put them in "time out". When Steven decides to free her last to get info out of her, she says that she was outraged because they tricked her crew. When Amethyst shapeshifts into Jasper, they fall for the Gems’ tricks again and take them to the Moon Base, believing that Steven, Pearl, and Garnet are "Jasper’s" prisoners. When they find out that they were tricked again, they re-fuse into Giant Ruby to kill the Gems, only for Steven to open the door, and when Sardonyx pushes them out of the moon base by attacking them with their hammer, causing them to unfuse, they are sucked into space.
Adventures in Light Distortion[]
Doc Ruby makes a cameo when they are slammed into their own spaceship, only to lose grasp on the spaceship.
Aftermath[]
Doc Ruby was possibly rescued by Navy Ruby between the events of "Adventures in Light Distortion" and "The Trial".
Villainous Acts[]
- She, along with her squad, attempted to kill the Crystal Gems after finding out their true identities.
- She attempts to kill them again after being lied to that they were with Jasper.
