Dr. Hinelar is an insane scientist who serves as the second-in-command turned leader of the Wicked Electric Kingdom Nezirejia and the main antagonist of Denji Sentai Megaranger. He was the former best friend turned archenemy of Doctor Kubota and also archenemy of the Megarangers as well.
He was played by the late Tetsuo Morishita.
Biography[]
Past[]
Doctor Hinelar was originally Dr. Samejima, a genius scientist who was competing for position as lead scientist of the International Network of Excel-Science and Technology (INET). However, his technology to adjust human biology so that humanity could survive the vacuum of space unaided was passed over in favour of his colleague Professor Eikichi Kubota's Mega Suits because INET didn't want to play God with human biology. Refusing to abandon his dreams, Samejima continued his experiments by using his daughter but a lack of funding led to the experiments being unsafe and she was killed.
Demonised by the press, and shunned by society for seemingly murdering his daughter using his experiments, Samejima was driven insane with anger and grief; desiring revenge. When Evil Electro-King Javious I of the Nezirejia dimension approached him with an offer to advance his science, Samejima agreed and crossed over to the other dimension where he took up the identity of Doctor Hinelar and created both Shibolena (modelled after his dead daughter) and Nezirejia Mobile Commander Yugande to work for the Nezirejia. Unknown to anyone else except for Bibidebi, he also created a second daughter named Hizumina but kept her in storage since Shibolena fulfilled her purpose. Samejima was presumed dead for many years but, unbeknownst to anyone, the Nezirejia dimension's secret properties began mutating Hinelar's anatomy until he could no longer survive for longer outside of the Nezirejia dimension or the Death Neziros.
Megaranger[]
In 1997, Doctor Hinelar returns to Earth with the rest of the Nezirejia generals but orders the destruction of the INET base under the Moroboshi High School as he knows it will oppose him. When the new Megarangers stop the attack and later kill Stingray Nezire, Hinelar reveals his existence to them before summoning Bibidebi to enlarge Rhino Nezire.
When Guirail comes to the Earth and takes command of the Nezirejia due to Javious deeming Hinelar incompetent, Hinelar is initially infuriated by the general's treachery. After he absorbs Yugande to become, with the battle leaving the robot crippled and near death, Hinelar decides to get rid of Guirail by giving him an enhancement drug. Although this makes him incredibly powerful in the short-term, it begins mutating him and Hinelar reveals that it will make him stronger but also destroy his mind before leaving him to die. Following the death of Mad Guirail, Hinelar used his left over DNA to create new breed of Nezire Beasts, Psycho Nezilar. Much later, Dr. Hinelar creates the Nejirangers to not only destroy the Megarangers but to also kill Javious as they were created from his being and their deaths would kill him. However, though they carry out their purpose, the Nezirangers become increasingly uncooperative, disobedient, truculent and defiant to the Nejirians and desire to fulfil their own programmed intent.
Eventually, this obsession begins leading to their deaths as Hinelar wants to lead the Nezirejia as their death kills Javious and leaves only his heart which Hinelar uses in his ultimate scheme. Using Thorn-Needle Nezilar to kidnap people, Doctor Hinelar sends them to a strange city dubbed Hinelar City with the ultimate goal of brainwashing all of humanity so that they will obey him. Although he uses both Illusion and Transport Nezire to try and keep them in though, the Megarangers are able to save the humans and Yuusuke destroys Hinelar City with a time bomb along with the resurrected Nejirangers.
After the destruction of Hinelar City, Hinelar's dream is completely destroyed so his sole motive becomes to destroy INET and kill the Megarangers to finally get revenge and prove that his science is superior. After using Hell Nezilar to expose the Megarangers' identity to the Megarangers' schoolmates, he upgrades Yugande with a generator to become Burning Yugande. Although Yugande is able to destroy or cripple all of the Megarangers' Giant Robos, he is killed and Shibolena is mortally wounded; being able to return to the Neziros but then dying in front of her creator. Driven even more insane by the grief of seeing his daughter die twice, Hinelar mutates himself into a more powerful but mindless creature. Although he overwhelms the Megarangers, with even the Drill Sniper and Multi-Attack Riffle being useless, he turns back to his normal self because his body begins warping since being outside of the Nezirejia has caused it to start falling apart.
Determined to kill them before he dies himself, Hinelar retreats to the Death Neziros and turns it into Death Neziros so the Megarangers confront him with the Mega Voyager as it is their only remaining usable Giant Robot. Even so, Hinelar's robot is able to decimate the Giant Robot and he reveals his past but the Megarangers' classmates cheering allows the Sentai to overwhelm and impale the Grand Neziros. With the damage to his mecha reflecting onto Doctor Hinelar, the now mortally wounded mad scientist decides to self-destruct the Grand Neziros with him inside and take both the Megarangers and the school with him. The Megarangers drag him into space to spare their classmates, but the Grand Neziros grabs onto the mecha and prevents it from escaping as Hinelar gloats before his mecha explodes. Although the explosion kills Doctor Hinelar and destroys the Mega Voyager, the Megarangers are able to survive which makes the Doctor's final triumph a failure.
Gingaman[]
Due to being dead for over a year, Hinelar himself does not appear but Bibidebi managed to release Hizumina before the Death Neziros' explosion. Hizumina joins up with Captain Gregory of the Space Pirates Balban with the ultimate plan to use his resurrection ceremony to bring Doctor Hinelar back to life but this fails so she tries to kill the Megarangers and avenge him. However, she is killed by Kenta which brings the last of Doctor Hinelar's legacy to an end.

Zenkaiger[]
Twenty-three years after Doctor Hinelar's death, the newest threat to the universe (the Tojitendo Empire) emerges and creates Super Warumono World. As a World Monster based around resurrecting past Sentai villains, Super Warumono World has his body made up of parts from many other past Sentai villains with a part of his throat based on Doctor. Hinelar. The Nezirejia leader was also going to be one of the villains resurrected by the Tojitendo to turn the Zenkaiger Earth into a world ruled by villains, but this never happens as Super Warumono World is swiftly killed by the Zenkaigers.

Dr. Samejima seemed to be a kind and loving father to his daughter and a passionate scientist. After her death however, he had a mental breakdown and became obsessed with fulfilling his goals and proving his inventions' superiority regardless of morality. Largely because of being passed over by INET for Kubota, he also had an incredibly powerful inferiority complex with his ultimate goal being to outdo his rival. Although he joined the Nezirejia, he was extremely ambitious and desired nothing short of absolute control. Rather hypocritically, as he hated humanity for betraying and shunning him, Hinelar was extremely treacherous and prone to betrayal himself; tricking and turning Gurail into a feral beast to further his goals, and seeking to kill Javious to take control of the Nezirejia hierarchy.
However, he wasnt fully irredeemable as he still showed care for Shibolena and Yugande who he saw as his children, getting so far as to punish Guirail by poisoned him with NeziGen capsule, as retribution for betraying Yugande and using him as a living shield. Prior to finale episode, Hinelar was enraged and grieve over the death of his subordinates. Hinelar later taking things personal when both Shibolena and Yugande died to avenged their deaths.
