Doctor Satan is the main antagonist of the 1976 Tokusatsu superhero series The Kagestar. He is a Nazi scientist who founded the criminal organization known as the "Satan Empire" to achieve his ambition of conquering the world by creating an army of mutant monsters. He makes his first appearance in episode 13.
He was voiced by the late Gorō Naya, who is best known for voicing the Great Leader of Shocker in Kamen Rider and also voiced Devil Sai in Henshin Ninja Arashi.
Biography[]
Not too long after Kagestar and Bellestar, Doctor Satan and his organization emerged to begin their campaign to take over Japan and eventually the world. His first scheme involved having his monster Kiba Inoshishi kidnap a scientist known for building a human-like android and another who developed a process for converting water into oil. Satan planned to force both the scientists to create an oil-powered robot army for him to conquer the world with, but his plan was thwarted by Kagestar and Bellestar, leading Satan to swear vengeance against them.
His next scheme involved having his monster Kamakira kidnap people and turn them into "human dolls" that he could dress as figures of people from various time periods.
After his plans were repeatedly foiled by Kagestar and Bellestar, Doctor Satan developed a final plan to dispose of his two arch-nemeses. He revived several of past monsters and brought together several other independent criminals who had previously fought the Kagestar to form a monster army led by his newest kaijin Todogirasu for the purpose of defeating both Kagestar and Bellestar. While Zariganian, Karasuga, Buffalogyu and Kazuragon went to the Kazamura Fishing Shop to take out Suzuko, Todogirasu led the other monsters and villains in targeting Kageo while he was playing with a group of children. After Todogirasu and his team defeated and froze Kagestar, Doctor Satan arrived to personally finish him off by pushing him off a cliff. However, before he could hit the ground Kagestar was saved by Kagerobee and unfrozen by Bellestar. The superhero duo then joined together to fight off the monster army, prompting Doctor Satan and his forces to retreat and regroup to make another attempt to defeat Kagestar.
Doctor Satan and his men would then kidnap Kageo and Suzuko's child friends to hold them hostage against them. However, Kagestar and Bellestar managed to defeat Doctor Satan's army and free the hostages, prompting him to flee to his hideout after Todogirasu was killed. Kagestar and Bellestar pursued him and faced him in a confrontation inside his base. Doctor Satan threw his crystal ball at them and set his base to explode in an attempt to kill the both of them, but the two were able to make it out just in time and face Doctor Satan in a final battle on the outskirts of his base. After hitting Doctor Satan with their various attacks, Kagestar and Bellestar performed a combined "Star Shoot" to finish off Doctor Satan.
Powers and Abilities[]
Doctor Satan is a highly intelligent man knowledgeable in various sciences and capable of converting humans into animal-themed super mutants for his army. He carries around as his primary weapon a black scythe which is capable of acting as a firearm and discharging ammo from its hilt. In addition, he is also versed in various forms of dark magic and carries with him a crystal ball that allows him to spy on Kageo and Suzuko and monitor what they are doing.
